The last time Nick Berg called home, he was OK.

He had been released from the prison where he had been held for 13 days by Iraqi police for reasons he said he did not know.

He had made his way from Mosul to his Baghdad hotel.

He was finished with being an independent civilian contractor and was coming home to West Chester.

That was April 9.

And then nothing.

Now, a month later, Berg's parents, Michael and Suzanne, have gone from concerned to frantic.

And now, it comes out that Dad is an ANSWER operative.

Dad probably called up some of his insurgent buddies and said, "Hey, I know where you can find an American to take hostage."

Today the parents have publicly placed some blame on the US military for their son's death

Pennsylvania family angry with American government over son's brutal death

Michael Berg lashed out at the U.S. military and Bush administration, saying his son might still be alive had he not been detained by U.S. officials in Iraq without being charged and without access to a lawyer.

Nick Berg, a small telecommunications business owner, spoke to his parents on March 24 and told them he would return home on March 30. But Berg was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24. He was turned over to U.S. officials and detained for 13 days.

His father, Michael, said his son wasn't allowed to make phone calls or contact a lawyer.

Look for Michael S. Berg, Teacher, Prometheus Methods Tower Service, Inc., West Chester, PA in the thread posted by Doug.

It's very unlikely that there is another Michael Berg in West Chester, but it's possible. At any rate, the father describes himself as anti-war.

I've seen it reported that the son was the owner of this Prometheus company and so here again we have another mystery seeped in 'rat puke. If the son was some pro-Bush kinda guy, why was the father using his son's company name in A.N.S.W.E.R. propaganda? What is the father's real occupation? Professor? Mediacrat connections?

It seems that the father helped his son run the Prometheus business:
He [Nick] usually called home once a day and e-mailed several times; Michael Berg is his business manager, and they needed to stay in touch.

The father saw fit to use the company name in the A.N.S.W.E.R. propaganda. It is being reported that the OWNER of the company was "pro-Bush".

This company didn't inspect antennas on building tops or whatever is being reported.

Civilian opportunists should stay out of war zones, as it is an unhealthy place to be.
