KARBALA, Iraq (AP) -- U.S. soldiers backed by tanks and helicopters battled fighters loyal to a radical cleric near a mosque in this holy city Wednesday, hours after Iraqi leaders agreed on a proposal that would end his standoff with the U.S.-led forces. As many as 25 insurgents were killed, the coalition said.

Asked how long his forces can fight, al-Sadr said: "Let remind you of Vietnam This should have been one of Kerry's suggestions for Rumsfeld's replacement. Sounds just like Kerry!

Asked how long his forces can fight, al-Sadr said: "Let remind you of Vietnam. We are an Iraqi people that has faith in God, and his prophet and his family. The means of victory that are available to us are much more than what the Vietnamese had. And, God willing, we shall be victorious."
He is referring to the entire Demoncreep party.

I truly hope that we do not take any of these vile hyenas alive.
If we do, it should only be after we have made hamburger of their flea-bitten bodies below the waist and have put them on flatbed trucks headed for their home villages to serve as a warning to would-be jihadists and the rest of the anti-American scum who are their family members and neighbors. Such should be our new Rules of Engagement.
No death = no glory = humiliation (there's that word again) -- in the form of becoming broken and failed "warriors" dependent on their families for their sustenance and their daily personal care.
And let's not forget to photograph the process -- from the beginning of the battle to their "triumphant" arrival in their fetid villages........

Boot Hill, I know you are going to come after me for saying this - but the stuff in this article about "deferring" the charges against Sadr until after the 6/30 handoff - Loftus has been saying this for many weeks now, that this was part of the "deal". Whatever charges Sadr faces (assuming the situation doesn't deteriorate), will be from the new iraqi government, not the US.

Well, we probably won't be getting any more information out of captives anyway from now on, so maybe you are right. Maybe this is the way it should be done from here on out.

It's comforting that al-Sadr is on the same page as Ted Kennedyand the DNC.

"Loftus has been saying this for many weeks now..." Here's the problem with that...
1. Since The Loftus Report is not posted or printed anywhere, your claim can only be called "unsubstantiated", at best. The lack of documentation about what Loftus has said, is unfortunate, at worst, it is intentional.
2. "Saying that for many weeks" is not very significant, but saying it first might be. Where's the evidence of that?
3. Since there has been the same, very public debate, about whether to defer the prosecution of Saddam until before or after the 6/30 hand-over date, there is nothing particularly insightful about suggesting the same question might be raised as to other equally notorious bad boys. It's simply is a logical conclusion that Loftus and others have made.
"Come after you for saying this"? Hardly, you're a good and well-meaning poster and offer positive contribution to many threads. But this world is full of some very convincing charlatans, and on the internet, as in "real" life, it behooves us all to develop a very strong BS detector to avoid being taken in by them.

Where is Al Sadr? Find the B*st*rd in front of the CNN cameras. I do not believe that we do not know where that scum is located. We see his pudgy body walking through the streets on video everyday. BOMB the B*ST*RD as he is on film.
