Gosh I hate to disagree with someone with such good taste in nicks : ) but...

I agree that it started with the "Rosie the Riveter" phenom, but it was just taken way too far when they started militantly pushing for "equal rights" in the 60's. And I'd say Playboy was just part of the whole cause and effect package of that.

No, it was when they got the right to vote. It's been all downhill since then.

Yes, I agree the equal rights thing got taken way too far, to the point of pushing for women/girls to be allowed in men's/boys organizations, sports teams,rest rooms, etc... They lost me with that, among a few other things, though I do think they are responsible for making things MUCH better for working women... I didn't like what the playboy mentality did to girls-- to their self image, or to pushing them to be the way they thought boys wanted them to be--ala Playboy--which went against the 50s mores and upbringing... After all these years, I believe it damaged men/boys just as much... The NOW did next to nothing to affect any change in how women were presented in the media. Still trying to figure that one out. I could blather on, but probably need more coffee first.
