PORTLAND - The radio station KNRK at 94.7 FM is issuing an apology to its listeners after talk show hosts Marconi, Tiny and sidekick Nickie J. laughed at and ridiculed the beheading of American Nick Berg. The three were fired Thursday afternoon, after airing the audio recording of Berg's murder repeatedly on Wednesday and laughing at the incident.
"Disgusting… I'm speechless," said one woman.
KNRK and Entercom, the company that owns the station, apparently agreed, playing an apology over the airwaves for their listeners:
The actions of the KNRK News Morning Show were insensitive, inappropriate and repulsive. On behalf of Entercom Portland and KNRK, I apologize to our listeners.
However, listeners like Blaine Dohman say they are still angry.
"I'm dismayed and just flabbergasted," said KNRK listener Blaine Dohman. "Number 1, to be put on the air, and two, not be put in check by the powers that be."
KXL radio talk show host Lars Larson also played the audio over the airwaves, but with a strong warning to his listeners.
He says the Marconi show's ridiculing of the incident is inexcusable, but thinks Americans should hear and see what happened to Berg, saying images have been shown by the media before and the incident with Berg is no different.
"I don't think that the America news media can decide for you what you can and cannot see. On the other hand, I don't think this should be on the air and then laughed at and made fun of," Larson told KATU News.
Company officials say they were never told the shock jocks were going to laugh at the killing of Nick Berg on the show.

boy, that was rather, ummm, stupid of them ... I got pretty tired of the local stations in my city with their random phone calls to unsuspecting people ... humor is good, but these things are inappropriate ...

I am somewhat curious about just what it was that they found amusing about the whole thing? I just can't imagine anyone finding any humor in it at all. What were they saying? Did they find the sound of his dying screams to be a real knee-slapper?
Just curious... what kind of station is this?
Somthing tells me it's a station that plays rap/hip-hop? Am I being racist for assuming so? The names of the DJ's seem to be that of those in the hip-hop club...
From the handful of times I passed by that station on the radio dial and caught these guys talking, I can say they have the intelligence of a pea. I just can't beleive they let it air without someone pulling the plug. Sad, sad, people.
Damn, Just damn, and deny them unemployment benefits while they are at it.

I think they play "alternative rock" that really isn't alternative anymore. Their slogan was KNRK, the New Rock Alternative. Picture Beavis and Butthead....

When these guys show up in another city looking for another gig, it would be nice if somebody would recognize them and say "Hey, weren't you guys Marconi, Tiny and Nickie J?"

primarily alternative rock... a "hard rock" station...
however, these three pukes don't actually ever play any music... all they do is shock jock the bejezuz out of us. I thought howard stern was mild compared to these three...

One of these jerks is really UGLY . . . I saw him on video today. Pathetic, enormous, fat hog 400 pounds ugly. Just my personal opinion about a well known public figure.
I believe it to be "Laughing for the sake of being viewed as 'shocking' for laughing at it". Absloutely no excuse though, that's really sick.
if you and I met filthy crap head marconi in an alley here in portland... he would be at the head of YOUR and MY line, right off the bat.

I used to listen to NRK a few years ago (I currently listen to AM talk radio exclusively) and met Marconi at the first annual Big Stink. He struck me as a big-time lib, but he was otherwise likeable. If they hadn't canned his a$$ I certainly would no longer attend any of their locally sponsered events. Kudos to NRK's management for making this decision in a timely manner,

You know, I keep asking myself that about a lot of people these days. When are decent folk going to rise up against the immorality? Doesn't anyone see where it's all leading? A free society only works as long as its citizens self-regulate their behavior. Unfortunately, all I see are lies after lies! What I mean is, lies like:
It isn't murder to kill the unborn.
Islam is the religion of peace.
Homosexuals are born that way.
Sex outside of marriage (preferably with lots of partners) hurts no one.
Etc, etc.
The radio shock jocks kept getting worse, because decent people refused to act long ago. Now indecency is the norm and the mainstream ridicules those who believe in marriage, loyalty, service to country, self-sacrifice...I could go on and on.
Is it too late to turn our country around?
Portland again? Not exactly a surprise anymore....
