"The resident reportedly spotted the suspects, chased them down and shot two of them."

Warms my heart.

"two of them armed with assault rifles"

The press just can't help themselves.

Wow! Those two homeowners don't mess around, do they.

There must be something more behind this. Burglars or even gangs don't normally bring rifles along to a burglary. I'm not criticizing the homeowner for shooting the people who attacked his home, but there must be more to the story, I suspect.

"Police have not charged the homeowner."

This could only happen in Texas.

Anywhere else, the homeowner would now be in worse shape legally, than the original perpetrators of the crime.

This is one Texas law I've always agreed with.

I really love these kind of stories, but since they had left his home when he shot them, I'm concerned the DA may decide to file charges against them. What do you think? Was that legal?

I say this only to raise what I believe to be an and endless demonstration of media bias.

Let us guess at the race of the players involved here. Assume that the media HAS to cover this, after all, it did happen and is news.

The media ALWAYS does two things: (1) avoids everything that might add to a negative stereotyping of blacks and, (2) adds to the concept of blacks as victims.

From these rules, what can we tell about the races involved? There is an intersting variant bias present and that deals with guns. Thus, to the left wing media, any long gun is "an automatic assault rifle." Since the article doesn't emphasize the victimhood of either attacker or homeowner, we can assume that in neither case was the opposite party and evil white person. Thus, both groups were probably Mexican. There is a possibility that both groups were black, instead of Mexican and that view is supported by the "assault rifle" clue. The media would not add to a negative black stereotype by suggesting that they had access to heavy fire power.

Whites are probably excluded because whites with assault rifles are ALWAYS considered and described as "extremist, right wing Christian militia."

Thus, from the bias written into this article by the left wing media, I believe we can conclude that no whites were involved and that, both attackers and defenders were probably Mexicans but possibly blacks. Any evidence out there?

They probably won't charge the homeowner with any crime because there is not jury in the state that would convict. These bad boys needed killin' and that's a fact.

...Paragraph #9. Good. Paragraph #10. Hmmmm, could be what the meaning of defending life, liberty, and "property" means. Property could be construed as home. Nearby field. Might be construed as excessive force. Grey area. Waiting to see how it plays out...

...Personally, no sympathy for the perpetrators...

Anyone have a link to the recent spate of home invasion robberies in Atlanta? Many hispanic houses being broken into lately for cash. At least three different gangs working them. So far, no armed homeowners to stop the goblins.
Kit.

Wow, if this happened in Mass, the homeowner and his friends would be arrested so fast your head would spin. We have to make every effort to escape our home, and no chasing anyone down and shooting them in a field, either. God forbid we use force to defend anything we hold dear.

"Investigators said five to six men, two of them armed with assault rifles, tried to break into a home..."

Gee, but I thought that "assault rifles" were able to "spray bullets" and leave "cops outgunned"?

How was the homeowner's puny pistol able to defeat an invasion by such formidable firepower?
