Priest Charged With Molesting Alter Boy
A local Roman Catholic priest is charged with abusing a former alter boy. Father Albert Liberatore is charges with indecent assuat and corrpution of minors. Investigators say the alleged abuse happened in 2002 at Saint Thomas Hall at the University of Scranton, where Father Liberatore was a teacher.
At the time of the alleged abuse, he was also the pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Duryea. Court papers say the alleged victim slept in the rectory twice a week during a three year period.
He altered the boy? That's beyond molestation.
Scranton University is a Jesuit university. Is Liberatore a Jesuit professor, rather than a parish priest? Is the "former alter boy" a college student? All relevant info, all omitted from this story.
This is news? It is kind of anti-climatic. After all didn't the CHURCH promise they were going to put a stop on this kind of thing?
Is it appropriate to assign guilt to a man who has not yet stood trial?
I'm surprised any parent, with all this going on, would allow a child to sleep in a rectory at all, much less a couple times a week.
What's the matter with these people?
