White House: Israeli military actions do not serve purposes of peace, security

The White House early Thursday rebuked Israel over its military actions in the Gaza Strip, saying they do not "serve the purposes of peace and security."

"While we believe that Israel has the right to act to defend itself and its citizens, we do not see that its operations in Gaza in the last few days serve the purposes of peace and security," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said in a written statement.

"They have worsened the humanitarian situation and resulted in confrontations between Israeli forces and Palestinians, and have not, we believe, enhanced Israel's security," he added.

I think Powell and Bush are playing good cop/bad cop when it comes to Israel and pacifying arabs.

The WH has its own problems in Iraq without trying to tell Israel how to handle their situation.

Whether they enhanced Israel's security would be up to Israel to decide, not us.

Go IDF!

Before I make a post to this thread, what is FR policy regarding the Bush ME policy? Do posts that attack Bush supporters get deleted?

Thanks in advance.

White House: Israeli military actions do not serve purposes of peace, security

yeah, it's a lot more peaceful if the Israelis just let the Pali terrorists kill them and just shut up and take it ... [/sarcasm]

this stupid, nonsensical "black is white and white is black" garbage serves no purpose ... the terror groups have long shown they will not stop until Israel is pushed into the sea ... period ... time to call a spade a spade ... way past time ...

"Hey White House, Go F*** Yourself."

This is a pro Bush test post. I'm about to respond to this poster as an ex Navy, Veteran of the VietNam War, Bush supporter.

Yo, Hymie, go F#2$ yourself. The Bush admin said today that shooting rockets into innocents civilians isn't the right the to do. Israel makes big mistakes. And so do we. Guess President Bush has figured out his mistakes.

I wouldn't rebuke Israel for ridding the world of a few rabid Islamists.

I'd personally give medals to the soldiers doing the work!

I would agree where it not for the fact that US tax dollars are under writing Jewish camps by the sea.

I don't relish us taking on the role of France, when it comes to Israel. This is a national disgrace. We can take out our terrorist enemies, but Israel should play assinine word games with theirs? God, how low we have sunk as a nation today.
