Actually some US combat line MOSs include quite a bit of bayonet training. I did a lot of it.

When I went through OSUT at Knox in '85 (MOS 19D), we RA guys didn't get a bit of bayonet training, only the NG guys. When I asked my Drill, I got the lamest answer I'd ever heard from him..."There's no excuse for letting your enemy get closer than 300 yards of you." Sheesh...

The next time we went to the field, I pulled one of my NG buddies aside, and had him show me what I'd missed. That's the only bayonet training I ever received. Pathetic.
