New evidence: Saddam's WMD in Lebanon
WorldNetDaily ^ | 5/20/04 | WorldNetDaily

Posted on 05/20/2004 3:29:21 PM PDT by wagglebee

Over the last few months, the U.S. intelligence community has received new evidence a sizable amount of Iraqi WMD systems, components and platforms were transferred to Syria in the weeks leading up to the U.S.-led war in Iraq, reports Geostrategy-Direct, the global intelligence news service.

But chances are the Bush administration won't be releasing this information for a while.

The convoys were spotted by U.S. satellites in early 2003, but the contents of the WMD convoys from Iraq to Syria were not confirmed.

Confirmation later came from Iraqi scientists and technicians questioned by a U.S. team that was searching for Saddam's conventional weapons. But all they knew was the convoys were heading west to Syria.

But over the last few months, U.S. intelligence managed to track the Iraqi WMD convoy to Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.

Through the use of satellites, electronic monitoring and human intelligence, the intelligence community has determined that much, if not all, of Iraq's biological and chemical weapons assets are being protected by Syria, with Iranian help, in the Bekaa Valley.

The Syrians received word from Saddam Hussein in late 2002 that the Iraqi WMD would be arriving and Syrian army engineering units began digging huge trenches in the Bekaa Valley.

Saddam paid more than $30 million in cash for Syria to build the pits, acquire the Iraqi WMD and conceal them.

At first, U.S. intelligence thought Iraqi WMD was stored in northern Syria. But in February 2003 a Syrian defector told U.S. intelligence the WMD was buried in or around three Syrian Air Force installations.

But intelligence sources said the Syrians kept dual-use nuclear components for themselves while transferring the more incriminating material to Lebanon.

IMHO Lebanon's time for liberation was in October of 1983 when the Marine barracks were blown up. Not going in then was one of Reagan's only mistakes.

first of all this is worldnutdaily...
secondly the site they reference is a pay site:
"Geostrategy-Direct"

I do not doubt there are weapons somewhere.
I doubt that wnd or gd actually knows anything new... other than the same old story we heard earlier bout things being sent to syria.

So now we cannot get at those wmds.. unless we take out another arab nation or two? Muzzies?

I will believe it when I see it.
American revulsion over the pantie scandal in IRaq, amongst religionist conservatives... has pretty much dampered our movement towards rearranging the arab street.

at least until after the election.
the sarin shell should have been enough evidence for all but the hard core leftists yesterday... it's not.

even when there ARE wmds... they swear it's not evidence of WMDS... Until they are used on a couple thousand folks... no body will believe. And if they are used on Israelis, the world will hardly care either.

You are so right. The silence of the left about the wmds is deafening. I don't know if they actually believed their own lying words about there being no wmds left or not. Maybe they're in shock that Bush has proved them liars again. They were not only discovered, they were used by terrorists to try to kill Americans a scenario the doubters had ridiculed up to the incident. They've now gone to plan B which is to try to ignore what happened or dismiss what has been found. It is up to the Republican leadership to broadcast these findings. Like all the other lib, anti-Bush papers, my old hometown rag barely mentioned the discovery. I'll bet a great many Americans are still unaware of it. To the libs it's just a "small amount of sarin. Nothing to worry about. Just a few thousand people could be killed at a crack that's all." The libs are more dangerous than the IFs.

The terror networks are run by Arabs, and Arab states are conspiring to use WMD. Zawahari calaims to have an arsenal of suitcase nukes. Now Syria may have conspired to continue the WMD progreams from Iraq. The US Government has policy for retaliation against WMD strikes governing Russian and Chinese weapons. A good question for Bush and Kerry is: does the US have a retaliation policy for the Arab Mideast. So far the Bathist Arabs would appear to be on the bottom of the list for escaping retaliation.

Once more....

OF COURSE, Saddam was moving WMD's out of Iraq!!! We were dragging our feet because the liberals and the press made it an issue that we had to get the U.N.'s "approval" before we invaded. Plus, we had to build a consensus among our allies!!!! Does anyone remember this? It took months for us to jump through all those hoops. Saddam could have smuggled the arms out by pack mule with all the time he had!!!!!

I agree...is this a reliable? There is no doubt the world is safer because of the leadership of Bush. There is no doubt that Iraq was a threat and had all the capabilities to produce vary types of WMD.

However, saying that "already produced" WMD are currently in the desert of Syria / Lebanon is a whole other issue. Again, this is just "hear-say" as of now -

The problem being this is the easiest way of saying "produced WMD exist" but we just can't get to them. So, I am one to let these types of suggestions go - if they are there and we "knew" they were there - I believe we would go in and get them.

Well, if that's case then and Lebanon has the WMD's that we are looking for, then what can that do for Bush? Saying it's there is one thing, proving it is another especially with the liberal press out to do him in.

When Israel drove to Beirut a few years ago, and trapped Arafat but let him go, they came across several huge stockpiles of weapons along the way. That was clearly a preemptive action. If the weapons are being stockpiled in the region again, the same solution to the potential problem might apply.

I believe Lebanon was the last place to feel the full weight of the 16inch guns of a battleship. I can't remember if it was Big Mo. or the New Jersey.

They wouldn't have done much good in Iraq, but they can cover a big chunk of Lebanon.

Well, the Israelis are pretty damn good at knowing the whereabouts of Hamas leaders and other various Palestinian terrorists...and also very good at blowing them to smithereens.

I would suspect if they had known the whereabouts of WMDs, they would have been taken out in short order and without any apologies.

"if we really do believe that produced WMD from Iraq is in Lebanon....we will go in and get it (or take it out)."

No we wouldn't.. not at this time because of the press and liberal conspiracy mongers. You see if we attack it is to take the focus off our mess in Iraq. The world would also look at it this way.

We are temporarily trapped action wise. Unless their was direct action from that area we are not going to do squat.

NOW that is not saying that Israel couldn't wrangle some sort of deal to be our surrogate. Say, the Pali's attack from Lebanon again. Incursion time.

I actually think they were looking for WMD's the last time the made an incursion a few months ago. That is also why Bashir did not make a big stink about the incursion. He did not want to invite another.

Time will tell.... but not for a while.
