It is a quite common practice to inject false information into the data stream to see who reacts to it. My suspicion is that we allowed Chalabi access to some bogus info that no one else had and saw a verifiable respone to it in Iran.

De-Nazification was not a bloodless process. Aside from the Nurenburg trials the SAS and KGB assasinated many, many Nazis in relocation camps and POW camps and on the streets and alleys of the world. If we really want to de-Baathify Iraq I'm afraid we will need equal measures. Perhaps, just perhaps, letting the uprisings run for a while in Falluhja and Ramalah gives our hit teams and snipers the opportunitiy necessary to accomplish this.
