Inside the Ragin' Cajun's struly bizarre crystal ball
Democratic Cajun James Carville is at it again, but this time it's more than just spitting a bit of venom at a pol named Bush. He's worried about things getting so bad in the next four years, no matter who's president, that liberal "Naderism" and conservative "Buchananism" will join to challenge the Democrats and the Republicans. "My macro position," he says, "is that in 2008 there's going to be a significant third-party movement in the United States that's going to combine Naderism and Buchananism. It's going to be native; anti-immigration; antitrade; very, very cool on military intervention; America first." He reasons that people will be angered by the budget deficit, still seething mad about war in Iraq, and sick of immigrants and foreign trade. "This Iraq thing is a much bigger event than we think. It's going to change the way people think for a long time," he says. Add a recession, and ka-pow! But Greg Mueller, who worked for Buchanan, says that era's gone. "That sentiment bubbles under the surface," he says, "but its peak was 1992 to 1996 with Pat [Buchanan] and Ross Perot."
The only major issue seperating these two groups is immigration and there is a good possibility that the left will change their position. Recall the recent conflict at the Sierra Club.
I think he may be right about the immigration thing. I've thought this before.
In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if we see some really tremendous changes between now an 2008 or 2012. Now is the time for the 1st world to ask itself if it is willing to be over run by the 3rd world. If not, the time to act is very soon.
Have more babies, folks.
Carvile may be on to something here. American's like most beings including animals in the wild are conservative.
It is odd that the US has a liberal party. I have long wondered how long until the US political scene was composed of two conservative parties:
1. One party composed of those conservatives who consider freedom, free exchange, etc more important.
2. The other party of conservatives who consider standards more, protectionism, government intervention, etc more important.
I could see the Naderites and the Buchananites coming together form part of party number 2. And the good news is that the Anti-American government intervention for the sake of perversion Dims would go away.
It would be interesting but I don't like either one. Buchannan and Nader are both pompous.
It's going to be native; anti-immigration; antitrade; very, very cool on military intervention; America first."We get a lot of that weirdness right here on FR. Willie Green, call your office!
Well look who's mouth it's coming out of ole snakehead himself Carville.
Be still my heart.
Please James, please go on TV and warn the citizens of this country that our great danger is in putting America first! And that you, John Kerry, and the rest of the demonRats are trying to stop ideology like that!
He is right about Iraq, and I think that in some form or another (maybe another terror attack), the nation is going to REFOCUS on the WOT even more, and this will doom the Dems and Naderites to being parties of insignificance for a decade.
However, I have access to the internet where one can find substantial amounts of reliable information that contradicts your opinion.
When you find an immigration control liberal, please put a picture of him or her on FR. Please. There ain't no such animal---well, there may be a few of the OLD-line union guys from the Gompers days who hated all immigration because it "reduced wages," but I mean a MODERN liberal.
Interesting, but what position would such a coalition take on social issues?
This must be a misprint. He meant the War in Syria. No, that can't be. It will be well over by 2008. Maybe he means the War in Iran. Nope. That will be over too. What does he mean?
I can't decide if this is struly hugh, or struly series.
("struly" is used in the original)
There are many environmentalists opposed to immigration. There are well established enviro organizations with an offical policy against immigration. Enviro groups such as Carry Capacity.org and SUSPS.org have only one policy, to limit immigration. There are credentialed environmentalists writing articles at V-Dare and FAIR.
I don't think I said "environmentalists," but it's irrelevant. The number of LIBERALS who oppose ANY immigration (illegal or not) can be counted on one hand if you have two fingers missing. If you're waiting for a "third wave" uniting Libertarians and left-wing enviro-kooks, you're also probably waiting for the Cubs to win a world series.
