Jessica Simpson Beats Spears To Daisy Duke Role
Britney Spears's hopes of landing the role of Daisy Duke in the forthcoming movie version of the 'Dukes of Hazzard' have been dashed-after bosses handed it to Jessica Simpson.
While star Spears had expressed interest in playing the sexy character from the '70s TV show, singer Simpson has been chosen as the blonde who will fill the extra short shorts of original Daisy Duke Catherine Bach.
Simpson's manager father Joe, 'She is really excited.' Simpson herself adds, 'I wanna wear those shorts so bad.'
The film about three redneck cousins, two corrupt public officials and a souped up Dodger Charger car, begins production this summer.

I really don't understand the Jessica Simpson thing. She has a really masculine looking face and ignorance and stupidity always strikes me as hideous.
I watched Dukes of Hazzard for the cars....
uh-huh.
Britney Spears' last best hope of being taken seriously was to appear as Daisy Duke. Alas, now she will never be considered for an Oscar-calibre role!
They're looking to cast Anthony Anderson as Boss Hogg. I have never seen him in anything, so I can't comment on his acting skills, but a black Boss Hogg just doesn't work for me somehow.
Totally agree.
I like blonde bimbo's as much as the next guy, but neither of these gals is worthy to don the frayed shorts of the original Daisy!
ping for DD photos later

How about some pictures so we can compare for ourselves!?
Simpson herself adds, 'I wanna wear those shorts so bad.'
Not as badly as I want you to wear those shorts.
She's apparently a lot smarter than most believe. How many
millions of $$$$$ have you accumulated?
I watched it for the guys.
Please they are going to screw up this movies majorly.
1) How can they drive the Genral Lee around with that flag? Im sure they will have it painted completly different. Problably purple.
2) For the life of me, I cant remember one black guy on that show. They will problably make the Shriff Chinese, the mayor black, the deputies hispanic...
Also, Catherine Bach was a lot (and I do mean a LOT) of things, but as Daisy she was not a dumb bimbo (well, ok, taking sharp corners in a CJ-5 as fast as she drove was not a Mensa-caliber move, but still...)
The original wasn't blonde and I don't recall the shorts being frayed.
General Lee Ping!

LOL. But you thought enough of the topic to read deep into the thread AND contribute. What does that say about the content of your post?
There was one recurring black character on the show. Sherrif Little, from chickasaw county. He was the only LEO that the Dukes had any respect for, and was a hard-a$$ed mofo to boot. They never messed with him.
Which one of the Simpson's is she? Did Homer have one out of wed-lock??????.......

I know, Anthony Anderson is funny. He's one of the sons in Me, Myself and Irene.
But Boss Hog is supposed to be a big fat OLD white cracker. Hollywood people are F**ing morons. They probably think it would be cool to have a black Hogg. This movie will be about as good as Scooby Doo.
There is thing called hair dye. Perhaps you've never heard of it. It is used to alter the color of hair.
You're right on both accounts:
Funny... I never noticed.

Keep exposing this woman... people need to know who she is, because the media sure won't tell 'em!
What?? There's no hottie brunettes around, so we need to spruce up a blonde bimbette to fill the role??
Barbara Goldbach is a nice jewish girl.
That would just suck.
News from Hazzard County
Lucille Ball made millions and millions playing a dumb redhead. The Hollywood crowd was shocked when she took over Desilu productions and was a tough, smart business
manager.
How do you know that Jessica's carpet matches the drapes?

That's a different person:
okay...
Daisy Dukes! What an actress! Mama mia!
LOL... how apropos!
Man alive. Those legs go all the way to the end don't they?
Didn't read the article. The title was enough to warrant a gut shot. In years past, no one would have posted this trash on FR and if they did, it would have been pulled. Juvenile toilet crap from Hollyweird.
not to get to deep on the Dukes of Hazzard but I was wondering about something the other day. Remember in the 70's there was a bunch of "redneck" movies made? It was during the time of the Dukes of Hazzard when you also had trucker movies, Smokey and the Bandit, Country/Western music was hot and you had a lot of movies on that theme and other media heavily invested in "Middle America". It seemed to be a backlash at the elitism the preceded it and the emphasis on "metro" culture. I suspect the reason this genre became so popular was because people were fed up with the 60's counter culture.
In light of the current elistis and "metrosexual" culture/media it seems we should be due for another "backlash" to tip the balance again. Since you would expect the movies and so forth to come after the movement started I wonder if we are just entering another phase where the focus becomes based more on traditional values, regular people, and the midwest. In light of gay marriage, elistis hollywood types, liberal media bias, and a continual focus on California and the east coast by the media we may be seeing a reversal pretty soon, which by the way is good news for a Texas, rough and tumble, butt kicker running against a femmy, metrosexual, Mass. liberal.
Me too, and Uncle Jesse.
John Schneider and Tom Wopat have both been recording artists and been on Broadway since DoH (LOL!). I wonder what happened to Catherine Bach?
