DoLiitle was media hype for the folks here at home.

Dolittle did little in comparison to what the Japanese did to us at Pearl Harbor.

The Doolittle raid did zero dammage to the Japanese. It convinced them that a wimpy failed bombing run, where we lost all our bombers was all we could do to them.

In the world as the Japanese saw it, they sawed off our legs at Pearl Harbor and they DoLittle response was to stomp on their toe.

Dolittle's Raiders brought the fight to the enemy. The Japanese though damaged little by the attack were shocked that we could actually bomb them from so far away. It was also a huge propaganda weapon and good for moral at home. These men were heros. They volunteered for a mission that was very risky to strike back at the enemy. That is war, you fight back, no matter what. Every time I see a B-25 I think of these brave men. Thank god this country still has people like Dolittles raiders. http://www.doolittleraider.com/

Not quite... the Doolittle raid DID panic their General Staff into approving Operation MI to secure a better defense perimeter. They REACTED to the Doolittle raid.

So, the IJN carried out Operation MI... and proceeded to make the reputation of one Raymond Ames Spruance. The Doolittle raid's ultimate result was that the Americans, albeit unintentionally, lured the Japanese Navy into the Battle of Midway.
