Actually I like him. He's over the top ... and gets the joke.
The guy showed good judgement. Boxers, martial artists, and the like are held to a higher legal standard than the general public in situations like this, or so I've read.
you are right. Besides he slapped him.
I can see him just standing there going, "He slapped me? He slapped me? What is he, a teenage girl?" It would be like having a cute bunny with a pink bow suddenly go for your throat.
The sheer improbability of it would stun you for at least a few moments.
You just never know how something like this will turn out. You don't know if the other person has some underlying medical condition and will rupture an aorta if you hit him. I know of one case where two guys got into your basic shoving match...one of them slipped and fractured his skull, and the other one ended up facing a manslaughter charge.
Unless you or someone else is in actual physical danger, it's almost always better to just walk away from a fight.
So far as I know Richard Simmons conducts his business in an honorable way. I don't buy his products but I've never heard him described as a cheat. So I have nothing against him in general. Still, he did slap the guy which is illegal and wrong.
The time to have done anything was immediately after, a smackdown that would have left Simmons' grandchildren hurting.
Er, can I rephrase that last line?
Richard Simmons is an assault on several levels to anything normal. He must be a Normalphobe.
Yeth.
