CA: Drive for licenses

SACRAMENTO – Maria Duran rode a bus all night from Santa Ana to demand her right to get a driver's license.

Buses are about the only way to go for Duran, who left Mexico in 1989 to support her five children after her husband abandoned her. Every day, she takes three buses two hours each way to get to her housecleaning job in Newport Beach.

Many of her friends have lost cars, jobs, their homes and faced deportation when they were caught driving illegally, she said.

"This is my first time here, and it's very emotional," Duran, 49, said Wednesday outside the Capitol. "It saddens me that we have to fight for this right to drive. I am here without papers, but I am here."

In one of his first moves in office, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger repealed a law that would have restored the right of an estimated 2.2 million illegal immigrants to get California driver's licenses. Democrats assented to the repeal because Schwarzenegger vowed to sign a new law with stricter security measures and insurance requirements.

Six months later, tempers are growing short among immigrants and lawmakers who question whether the governor will keep his promise.

I kid you not but this was a snippet in the Merc News under the World News in Brief section, at the bottom is another little section called "In Other News"..

Most Mexicans believe immigrants have a bad influence on their country, reflecting an apparent fear of cultural erosion and job losses to newcomers,, This according to an AP poll.

I kid you not.. :-\

To ride a donkey, they don't need a license, liability insurance --- which they wouldn't buy, and it's a little less of a problem if they do a hit and run. Donkeys are environmentally friendly ---- good in California.

If Americans expressed this same concern about immigrants in the US, we would be branded as racists.

Now that she has outed herself, why is she still here?

They could not make the INS' job any easier. What a target rich environment.

Our Governor should hold a news conference to publically state the following:

"Selective enforcement of our laws is not an option. So for those of you who are in CA illegally and if you want a drivers license, go back to your home country and follow our laws to legally enter CA and you can then go through the process to obtain a drivers license".

END OF STORY!

I saw this on the news last night. They interviewed one of the illegals, who was foaming at the mouth, screaming for his license.

These are foreigners in our country, committing crimes, staging near violent protests on our soil in front of our houses of government. And they are organized and encouraged to do this by their countrymen who have unfathomably been allowed to be elected to office in our country, to make laws for us.

We are now 3 years past the worst attack in American history, staged by aliens in our midst who knew that they could do what they did because no one will stop them. These aliens know the same thing, and it is their supporters and enablers who have gutted our laws to the extent that things like 9/11 can happen. They are to blame.

In 1970 I could not have imagined Mexican nationals staging violent events on American soil in open view, much less in front of the Capitol building of the State of California. It would have been unthinkable.

What shall we do about this? How can this be? These people have no rights to do ANY of this. How do we end it?

Well now you know why Arnold was fund raising for McClintock.
Bottom line: if by some aberration this bill passes allowing illegal immigrants the privilege of a CA driver's license and Arnold signs it, he can bend over and kiss his political future goodbye.
(although I don't think he has any idea of running for reelection...who would want the job for another four years when you could make millions making movies. LOL) He might as well pack up his Humvee and point it south to LA, 'cause he won't last until '06 much less reelection...
Californians are fed up with the BS that goes on in Sacramento and if there were some way to get rid of Cedillo I would be the first on the list to oust his behind right out of office. Period!
