(AP) — Details of new radio ads from the Michigan Democratic Party that began airing Thursday:

___

TITLE: "Cafe"

LENGTH: 60 seconds.

AIRING: Indefinitely in the districts of state Reps. David Farhat of Muskegon, David Robertson of Grand Blanc and Matt Milosch of Lambertville.

SCRIPT:

The ad begins with cafe/diner sounds.

Guy: (Incredulous) "Can you believe this? Betsy DeVos says you and I are paid too much!"

Waitress: (Pouring coffee) "Who's Betsy DeVos?

Guy: "The state Republican leader. It's right here in the paper."

Waitress: "She thinks we're paid too much?"

Guy: "Let me read this to you. `Many, if not most, of the economic problems in Michigan are a result of high wages ...' That's what Betsy DeVos said."

Waitress: "She should try waiting tables for a while."

Guy: "Betsy DeVos is a billionaire — with a `B.'"

Waitress: "No wonder she's so out of touch."

Guy: "That's the kind of thinking that's sending our jobs overseas!"

Waitress: "But what does state Representative Matt Milosch think?" (Other ads mention David Farhat or David Robertson)

Guy: "Apparently, Matt Milosch agrees with her! He's refused to renounce these outrageous comments!"

Waitress: "Our state rep should be independent, not in the pockets of billionaire Betsy DeVos."

Guy: "Does Matt Milosch think outsourcing our jobs is a good thing, too?"

Waitress: "I may not be a billionaire, but I'm going to call Matt Milosch and give him my two cents. What's his number?"

Announcer: "Call Matt Milosch and tell him fair wages are a good thing for working families."

(The ad then gives the phone number and e-mail address of the targeted lawmaker.)

Voice over: "Paid for by the hardworking men and women of the Michigan Democratic Party."

___

ANALYSIS:

The ad repeats part of a comment made by Michigan GOP Chairwoman Betsy DeVos in late April in reaction to Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and other Democratic governors blaming President Bush for job losses in their states.

"Many, if not most, of the economic problems in Michigan are a result of high wages and a tax and regulatory structure that makes this state uncompetitive," DeVos said.

Also in late April, The Grand Rapids Press reported that DeVos said the economic climate for job creators in Alabama, South Carolina and Virginia is much more hospitable than Michigan's. All three are right-to-work states, which allow workers to opt out of joining unions in companies with unionized employees.

Democratic party officials and lawmakers have used the comments to accuse DeVos of saying Michigan workers are paid too much and are at fault for the state's heavy job losses.

DeVos says such criticism "puts words in my mouth that have never been there, claiming that I said Michigan workers are paid too much. That's dishonest at best and malicious at worst."

Democrats say the three lawmakers failed to respond to a letter from the Michigan State AFL-CIO asking if they shared DeVos' views and if they support making Michigan a right-to-work state. The letter says, "If we do not receive a response (by May 17), then we will assume that you are in full agreement with Ms. DeVos."

The ads are being run in three districts where Democrats hope to beat Republican incumbents. Republicans now hold a 63-46 edge in the House, with one vacancy, and Democrats want to close the gap in November's elections.

Typical Democrats. They think all waitresses (& women) are too stupid to know that the high wages in question are not their $3.25 + tips wages, but the AFL-CIO $40.00 per hour wages.

Most waitresses probably agree that their tips are down because exorbitant union wages have driven business out of state.

Will the last person to leave Michigan please turn off the coffee machine and roll warmer?

I don't know. Michigan Republicans do not appear to be living in the real world. They're sending this guy, John Ramey (murder suspect), to the Convention as an alternate.:

John Ramsey is a suspect in the murder of his daughter, JonBenet. Colorado Gov. Owens said that "Ramsey is under an umbrella of suspicion" in his daughter's death.

Yet wealthy Republicans from the Charlevoix Yacht Club--Susan and Brownie Flanders and others--are assisting Ramsey in his bid to become a state legislator.

These MI rich-bitches are not living in the real world.

Milosch is a good guy. I don't think the ads will hurt him that much since he won by outworking everyone. I believe he has a family business too so he can counter this. The other Monroe County district is going to be tougher(and open)

Robertson has a tough race. He's well known, but Fenton's changing. He beat an incumbent so he should be okay.

Muskegon County(Farhat) is always tough.

>>These MI rich-bitches are not living in the real world.<<

Sorry but Betsy DeVos has been a great crusader in Education in MI. GLEP has done more to point out the problems in MI than anyone else. She is right about this. MI taxes are totally unfriendly to new business and the Unions dominate. I was amazed at the cost of living here. Everyone who is living here explained that the cost of living is due to the wages the big three pay.
