Filmmaker Moore Says He Has Berg Footage

Associated Press

NEW YORK - Filmmaker Michael Moore, whose incendiary new documentary lambastes President Bush's handling of the war, said Thursday that he has footage unused in the film of Nicholas Berg, the American civilian later beheaded in Iraq.

The footage, of an interview with Berg, "is approximately 20 minutes long. We are not releasing it to the media," Moore said in a statement. "It is not in the film. We are dealing privately with the family."

Neither Moore nor his representatives would describe the nature or contents of the interview with Berg, who held staunch pro-war views.

No one answered the phone Thursday at the home of Berg's parents in West Chester, Pa.

"Fahrenheit 9/11," which recently won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, accuses the Bush camp of stealing the 2000 election, overlooking terrorism warnings before Sept. 11, 2001, and fanning fears of more attacks to secure American support for the Iraq war.

Moore's assault on U.S. policy got him into trouble with Disney, which refused to let subsidiary Miramax release "Fahrenheit 9/11." He is still trying to work out a deal for U.S. distribution.

Hmmm. I wonder if John Stossel would be interested in something like this.

The information regarding the interview with Nick Berg being here in the US was contained in the entire article at Salon. You have to be a subscriber or have a day pass to read it in its entirety.

On another thread, someone pointed out that Nick Berg managed to come in contact with Zacharias Moussaoui, the Al Qaeda guy in Iraq, the Al Gharib prison, and Michael Moore. What are the odds of this? The coincidence factor is growing less likely every day.

He was also a lawyer under Hillary during the Watergate hearings and he was good friends with the "tourist guy" in the 911 pics

Moore announced the existence of the tape. That alone should raise a red flag.

Not according to salon he didn't:

Word of the footage reached Salon through a source unaffiliated with Moore, or his film, "Fahrenheit 9/11,"

Granted, salon's not exactly the most trustworthy source.

We are not releasing it to the media," Moore said in a statement. "It is not in the film. We are dealing privately with the family."

Then why announce it to the press???

No, "the film" refers to Fahrenheit 9/11.

I wonder if Berg was working for Moore over there - remember when Moore claimed to have film or inside info on Abu Gharib (sp)?

Wasn't there a reporter from Chile claiming to have seen Nick Berg around the prison??

You felt like this?

But, no. You didn't come across as unhinged enough to really feel like Algore.

Then why announce it, unless, of course, he and Michael Berg plan to use it against Bush

Folks around here are pretty sick of the way Michael Berg is using he son's death and blaming everyone BUT the terrorists

That's just the way these things are done. A plot was hatched, a method decided upon. Some anonymous somebody was given the job to leak possession of the tape to a friendly media outlet, in this case Salon.

My overall point stands. The tape contains nothing that incriminates Moore, and most likely nothing that is at all germane to the investigation of Berg's death. Moore has deliberately leaked to the media his possession of the tape because he's engaged in some sort of publicity stunt. Most likely he hopes to bait the FBI into "harassing" him so he can then play the victim and point to the Patriot Act as the malevolent instrument of Der Fuhrer George W. Bush and his henchman John Ashcroft.

The coincidences are becoming a noose for Mr Moore. Nick Berg gives his password to someone and it ends up with a terrorist...Nick climbs a tower near the prison ( at night, without any tools, I seem to recall) he sends emails to friends/family saying he is short of funds, then suddenly he has money and refuses help to leave Iraq...says he is going sailing (?) in Turkey? (Tinfoil Hat on tight - Maybe that's where he is!) Who identified the body? Was it DNA checked? Hope it was more in depth than as a result of a passport being found in the deceased's pocket...methinks Mr Moore knows more than what's good for him. This stunt backfired bigtime. If anything ever warranted a full scale investigation then this does. I'll EAT my tinfoil hat if it's NOT connected to the prison photo's as well...

Maybe so, beckett. But the question remains, why did Moore interview Berg? How did he even KNOW about him?
