Filmmaker Moore Says He Has Berg Footage

Associated Press

NEW YORK - Filmmaker Michael Moore, whose incendiary new documentary lambastes President Bush's handling of the war, said Thursday that he has footage unused in the film of Nicholas Berg, the American civilian later beheaded in Iraq.

The footage, of an interview with Berg, "is approximately 20 minutes long. We are not releasing it to the media," Moore said in a statement. "It is not in the film. We are dealing privately with the family."

Neither Moore nor his representatives would describe the nature or contents of the interview with Berg, who held staunch pro-war views.

No one answered the phone Thursday at the home of Berg's parents in West Chester, Pa.

"Fahrenheit 9/11," which recently won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, accuses the Bush camp of stealing the 2000 election, overlooking terrorism warnings before Sept. 11, 2001, and fanning fears of more attacks to secure American support for the Iraq war.

Moore's assault on U.S. policy got him into trouble with Disney, which refused to let subsidiary Miramax release "Fahrenheit 9/11." He is still trying to work out a deal for U.S. distribution.

>> It's all very odd.

That sums up the whole Berg incident to begin with. His father's ties, his reason for being in Iraq, his father's quotes afterwards, and now this.

The media's still running that lie?

But of course! They don't care about how blatant a falsehood is as long as they think the rest of mainstream media will cooperate in letting it stand.

And true "coincidences" are quite rare - this footage has a high likelyhood of being connected to Berg's murder.

Moore doesn't have squat... he's making it up - just like he did for his "interview" with Fred Barnes:

The idea seems to be that Moore's crew interviewed him. That's what I get from the fact that he has "footage unused in the film." Maybe the Moore connection is what lead us to detain Berg in the first place.

"It is not in the film. We are dealing privately with the family."

Then why announce it, unless, of course, he and Michael Berg plan to use it against Bush.

If he's got the film and dealing with the family privately why is he telling the Associated Press?

It was in an article I posted a little over a week ago. Nobody in that thread commented on my point about the on-camera change, so maybe I'm reading more into it than is there. *shrug*

Granted the article is poorly written, leading to confusion as to sequence and the referent "film," but I gathered that Moore's crew had interviewed Bergn not that Moore has wound up w/ unseen footage of Berg held captive. Either way, one would think the authorities would be interested, that they should have a look.

That is also a possible explanation.

If one of Moore's minions interviewed Berg, then the footage needs to be seen by those investigating the murder. It could contain information of his plans, his contacts, etc.

Moore is hiding it because it also will reveal who took the footage.

Exactly my thought. If only his pompous brain was as big as his gut. Is he delusional enough to think his terrorist contacts will buy him entry into diplomacy? Hope the FBI is all over him like white on rice.

Moore has two objectives, (1) maximize his own personal ewvwnuw and, (2) maximize damage/embarrassment to Bush. He does not give a big rat's a** about Berg's family, neocommunists or not. Moore is just stalling for time while he examines how to best accomplish his objectives.

Ties to Islamist kerrorists? You betcha! But, that is not illogical. If OBL had some propaganda he want published, the NYT might have some other smear that day so, send it to Moore.

Let's not be too hard on Moore. It is almost certain that he is actually working for a well known secret service, collecting intellegence and disseminating disinformation.
