Oh, I just realized! In #16, I forgot to address Floyd, who was the intended recipient.
Floyd, #16 is for you.
Okay, something weird is going on. I know I put Floyd R Turbo on #16 but it disappeared. And I know I put Floyd R Turbo on #21 but it disappeared.
I am going to test this by addressing it to Floyd R Turbo, and if there is no recipient...?
if FRT was banned/suspended, wouldn't it say that? Or does it just omit banned/suspended people when you post?
So, I'm going to hit post and we'll see what happens!
and it worked.
What's going on??? LOL.
I always wonder if God's first step in confusing the languages was to tinker with the sense in which the common language was interpreted and under-stood...in other words arguements over what IS IS?!
The Bible doesn't say how long the process took before people were thoroughly confused with each other, but given our media's penchant for changing the perceived meaning of language...we have come to a point where even speaking English to each other does not guarantee that we can understand each other.
As people scattered from the Tower of Babel due to disagreements with interpretations and cultures...the languages themselves changed over time.(With God's direct intervention as well).
Should we bring up the fact that the bible wasn't written in English in the first place? Do we have a number on the average number of translations made to date to get it to its current state?
It does not say "exactly" anything in modern English. The whole discussion of the use of quotes is a bit much.
Diva's Husband
Yes, you're right. LOL!
Another very real problem was getting them to understand that there is a very real difference between an unfounded opinion and a fact. Even when I explained that opinion based on fact was more viable than an unfounded one, some were not convinced....asserted they had a right to their own opinion!
His columns are regularly featured in townhall.com. I get their email daily with notices about featured conservative authors. Check it out.
Most of my teachers are rather conservative, actually, but many times I've had to argue my way out of racism accusations or the vaunted war-for-oil argument, nearly daily.
It's funny, though, because every time the reasoning gets worse. They're not weakening my conservative beliefs, on the contrary, by showing what idiots they are, they are strengthening them! Ah, I can't wait for college.
For those in the college ranks, check out this here website: www.studentsforacademicfreedom.org. Very good stuff.
BTW, is there an active FR or Protest Warrior chapter at the University of Florida? Just out of curiosity...
The tribe of Judah was one of twelve tribes of Israel and all were of the family of Abraham. Not only Jews are included in that blessing and cursing, or so it seems to me.
29 kai douleusatwsan soi eqnh kai proskunhsousin soi arcontes kai ginou kurios tou adelfou sou kai proskunhsousin soi oi uioi tou patros sou o katarwmenos se epikataratos o de eulogwn se euloghmenos
That's from the Septuagint, 'cause I don't read Hebrew! It reads, more or less, "And let nations (eqnos - ethnic groups!) be in slavery (doulos) to you, and rulers prostrate themselves before you, and be lord (kurios - as in "kyrie eleison") over your brother, and the sons of your father shall prostrate themselves before (same word) you; accursed is he that curses you, (katerew - literally to denounce, accuse, speak out against)and blessed is he that blesses (eulogwn literally, good-speaking, i.e. to bless or praise) you."
Here's Young's Literal Translation, which is taken from the Hebrew, but predates the Dead Sea Scrolls because it was first made in 1898:
29 peoples serve thee, and nations bow themselves to thee, be thou mighty over thy brethren, and the sons of thy mother bow themselves to thee; those who curse thee [are] cursed, and those who bless thee [are] blessed
Well there it is. LOL! Nice job.
I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be using my 2 years of Classical Greek to work my way through the Bible . . . and on the Internet at that! Of course when I was in college AlBore hadn't invented the Internet yet. My husband-to-be was at Georgia Tech, and they had a PDP-8 computer that you had to feed hundreds of punch cards into to run a simple program of just a few lines . . . . < eek >

That is very true. American colleges are filled with Frankensteins, Cagliostros, Draculas, Svengalis, and Dr. Faustus and Marquis de Sade types. All sorts of totalitarian quacks, charlatans, sophists, and gnostic maniacs. The popularity of the insane ravings of Nietzsche are damning testimony to the sickness lurking in the halls and corridors of the temples of academe. It's a disgrace what gets passed off as "knowledge" and "learning" these days.
"...and they had a PDP-8 computer that you had to feed hundreds of punch cards into to run a simple program of just a few lines . . . . < eek >....."
Oh, those were the days!! And woe to those who did not number each punch card properly before feeding them into the card reader. It was almost 10 years before the first personal computers started appearing with DOS.
"Oh, dear dead days beyond recall . . . "
I'm guessing that your previous tries had multiple recipients. Did you separate their names with semicolons?
Right now I can't work in the yard - spent 20 min out there and have welts all over my legs. Cutter won't keep them off, and I'm not sure what will, if anything. Right now I'm hoping they will torment all liberal protesters as badly as they are tormenting me, except I don't want to put up with the @#$$#@s for 2 more weeks.....
