I used to have two running springs, sometimes year-round, on my acres. After our large '89 quake, they vanished. I suppose they found another course underground and are emerging elsewhere now. I always wanted to develop those springs.........wish they'd come back.

After the Alaskan earthquake, the well at my in-laws in Hiwasse, Arkansas almost ran dry. It came back, but I don't remember when.

Also, the most weird of all ... the root vegetables that hadn't been dug up got HUMONGOUS! For instance, turnips were as big, or bigger, around than cantaloupes. Radishes were as big as yams. Etc. (Everything was pithy and couldn't be eaten.) Never happened before then, or after.

My mother-in-law always said it was connected to that earthquake in Arkansas, even if she couldn't prove it.
