Unfortunately, I'm horrible with numbers and couldn't crunch them into a solution if I tried my hardest. There has got to be a reasonable solution to the current Social Security situation, though.

I heard a solution, once, that made sense to me:

Cut Social Security now. However do it in a reasonable manner. Allow the people, the retirees, that are feeding off of it now to continue to feed until they die. Then have a cutoff age, say 59 1/2, for everyone else. If you are 59 1/2 before this date, good for you, you get social security, if not... save up you poor s.o.b. I'm getting my money, you'll get yours, and we all stop paying the government more than they need to provide the common defense. The end.

No sarcasm involved, in case anyone was trying to read it that way.

So you want to say to the guy who's been paying into the social contract for over forty years..."F-you, you're on your own and thanks for 43 years of payments." That's your solution.

For the record, I had enough to retire by 49 and by investment revenues will guarantee that 85% of whatever I get from SS will be taxed.
