I don't even go to church on Sunday and I have enough sense to know that scripture does NOT say disavow your faith ONE time and you're going to hell. Jesus would be a real hypocrite to make that rule and then break it for Peter at the same time. The admonition is a call to the faithful to profess their faith but hardly a zero tolerance mandate.

True, the quote from scriptures is correct. I would like to believe that our God is a forgiving God -- he forgave Peter and I do believe that he would forgive this man. It's not our place to say such things as This guy has just lost his eternal life. He'd better enjoy this one. -- God could give it back to him. I hope you were suggesting that he has to make up for this and that this was not the end of it all, with no hope for him.
