Three men executed after young girl's rape

May 31 2004 at 02:57PM

Kuwait - Kuwait on Monday publicly hanged three men - two Saudis and a Kuwaiti - who were convicted of raping and murdering a six-year-old Pakistani girl, witnesses said.

The cases have provoked public soul-searching over security and crime in the tiny oil-rich country, which imposes the death penalty - usually by public hanging - for murderers, rapists and people convicted of crimes against the state.

Marzouq Saed al-Saeed, Saeed al-Saeed and Kuwaiti citizen Hamad al-Daikhany were executed at Naif Palace.

Kuwait's High Court in April issued its final verdict in the case a year after the judicial system first sentenced the three to death for kidnapping, raping and killing Amna al-Khaledi.

Latifa al-Saeed, a Saudi, was also sentenced to 15 years in prison after the Court of Cessation found her guilty of being an accomplice in the crime, luring Khaledi into a car.

Amna was found dead in the Salmi desert in May of 2002 after having been reported missing for several days.

Coroner reports revealed that she was raped and stabbed several times.

The only reason they didn't execute the young temptress instead was because the rapists murdered her.

What's up with this story? I say job well done. My only problem with the death penalty is that there should be more than ample evidence. OJ simpson type evidence should have got him 20,000 volts right there where he sat his smug ass during the trial.

The eye for an eye justice system is a little harsh for me...still, I'd like to see the US shift our justice continuum toward the better parts of their justice system.

It seems they don't subscribe to the demonic sharia, since sharia's requisite four male witnesses aren't mentioned.

Sounds good to me. I believe Singapore was right, too, when they laid a beatin' on that Michael Fay kid back a few years ago for spray painting cars. The press was all in a tizzy, "How dare they use a cane upon that child!!" I don't think he was ever again convicted of vandalism, was he? The system worked.

Terror is terror, whether it is on the firing lines or in the civilian population. Hang them high and hang them often! With that condition, it is absolutely necessary for honest evidence and honest justice.

I specifically remember most of the media stating that they were LUXURY cars, implying that that made it OK. Like the rich have it coming anyway.

I can't figure out what the soul-searching is about - that three Arab men in their arrogance and privilege raped and killed a little girl? Or that the death penalty has gone too far, and three Arab men lost their lives over a throw-away little foreign girl?

And, what would you prefer as punishment if 3 animals had raped your six-year-old daughter???

Left out, "and murdered". For me, rape of a child that age would have been justification enough to put them to death. How many others must they have gotten away with? (bad grammar, good question)

If I remember correctly, that kid's sentence was eighteen strokes of the cane.
That kid would have never survived eighteen strokes like they are normally given.
He'd best be thankful that he got off light.

The cat-'o-nine-tails is tame compared to that bamboo cane!
I wish it didn't fall under, "cruel and unusual punishment", here in the US.
