Suspect in Utah Bus Hijacking Captured
May 31, 2004 05:36 PM EDT
WESTWATER, Utah - A passenger bus was hijacked Monday afternoon by a man with a knife who was captured just west of the Colorado state line, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
The passengers were let out when the man took control of the bus on Interstate 70 around 2:30 p.m. MDT, patrol spokesman Chris Kramer said.
The bus driver remained on board, but later escaped by jumping out, Kramer said. He did not know whether the bus was moving when the driver jumped.
The hijacker barricaded himself in the bus briefly before he was arrested, Kramer said.
Kramer did not know how many passengers were on board or where the bus was going.

Good, I'm glad they caught that fruitcake. This guy needs to go to jail forever. On the outside, he's going to shoot the paperboy or somebody for "giving him a look" at 7-Eleven.
Hijack a bus! I can see a "low self esteem" defence comming on this one.
"I'm hijacking dis bus to CUBA!!"
So much for the "Let's Roll" phase.
I think I might have backed a big-rig tow truck up to the bus and hauled it off to the station for a few chuckles. A real-world tear gas training session would have followed shortly after arrival.
