New tool against IEDs and for convoy protection
Metal Storm

Posted on 06/01/2004 1:43:34 AM PDT by Polliwag

Metal Storm just released video on an anti-IED 40mm grenade delivery system. They arm a small UAV rotorcraft. The craft can be used for convoy escort, taking out IED's or assaulting small groups of foes. They even have a pic of an 8 barrel mounted system capable of delivering 32 40mm grenades.

The UAV version of the fictional Hail Storm (Metal Storm in reality) in Volume V of the Dragon's Fury Series has not even hit the streets yet!

The cycle period between fiction and reality shortens.

Click HERE to read the excerpt from Volume V that uses UAV's in this fashion to do more than explode IED's...where it stops intire insurgencies.

Yes, I read that some days ago, and me gusta mucho!

In the meantime, there's always Ms. Daisy Cutter. She would love those Islamakazi get-togethers...

Hmm... It'd take a pretty hefty UAV to hoist up one of those Daisy-cutters, wouldn't it?

They seemed to have made a wonderful impression on the Talliban over in Afghanistan, which survivors won't soon forget, and perhaps would have saved many precious USGI lives had their use been applied in a more timely fasion in places like Falluja.

But it seems that tactics have been replaced with PC sensitivity, and once again our Military is being used as a meals-on-wheels program in order to compete with the UN for that job, and of course we musn't "offend" anyone while we are about it.

Much better, we are led to believe, to let "Insurgents" pick off 2 or 3 of our Troops a day for the indeterminate duration of whatever it is we've got going on over there, than to risk being accused of "warmongering" and actually defeating our enemy.

We have seen a marked shift from an offensive to a defensive operation, and if the press were to be believed (as unfortunately it still seems to be in many quarters) they would have us believe that US forces are surrounded and about to be overrun and massacred, if not all rounded up and enslaved per Islamic protocol.

According to the liberal media, we shouldn't be negotiating with Al Sadyr; we should be begging him for mercy in the name of Allah!

Actually "Winning" a War would be soooooo insenstiive of us, don't you know?

In todays' PC environment (which our GOP CIC now seems to be buying into nearly as much as Kerry would) "Victory" has become a terrible international stigma, to be avoided at all costs.

And we seem to be doing just that; Avoiding victory is a skill which this administration seems to be getting very adept at.
I'm afraid that this talent may be demonstrated again in the next election.

Stay tuned.

Although this affair started out as a just and noble cause, the more the politicians usurp control of it from the Military Commanders and the more corporate interests swarm in to exploit yet another war for fun and profit (as alas, they always seem to do), the more this starts to look like a tragic redux of 'Nam, as much as I hate to see the liberal's point of view on it that way.

Unlike the libs and peaceniks however, I am far from advocating a premature withdrawal or capitulation to terror - but if we want to ever see anything resembling an honorable resolution and closure to this conflict, then we need to get the DC/PC Beltway crowd the heck out of it and let the people who are trained to break things and kill the bad guys do what they do best.

And throw the AP the heck out of there; let 'em make up the news from Iraq, as it seems that they are already fond of doing.

And only after the Jihhadists (or what's left of them) concede that intimidating and killing Americans and our Allies just isn't all that lucrative a proposition for them, THEN send in the blooming Peace Corps to rebuild the place and "Win their hearts and minds".

But "Liberation" just isn't going to happen in the MidEa. IMHO untill a whole lot more Islammonazis are sent on to Allah for their 72 virgins, or grapes, or camels, or whatever it is that they're so bloomin' randy about.

And the sooner the better!

Now you're talking! But they need some help from civilization to realize their wonderful Izlammo wetdreams of paradise. So as a public service all over the world, they should be helped onto their eternal reward in positively enormous numbers as quickly and efficiently as possible.

It's the least we can do.

This may cause some problems for poor Allah, however; he'll end up having to grab his cheeks and pull really hard to make the "gate" wide enough to accept the droves of freshly-dispatched faithful down there in Hades.

But then again, that's his problem, isn't it?

That there is an Arabian dust devil that our forces are very capable of conjouring up. We need to see a lot more of those whenever a group of these Islamofascists of the likes of Sadir gathers in any number.

They seem to make a pretty spiffy space-age pistol, too.

On of 'em has a cluster of about 4 barrels, like an electronified "Pepperbox" pistol of yore. Pretty interesting.

I can't tell if those grenade-launching robots have a "feed" system or if four rounds - one per tube - is all you get before they have to fly or crawl back home for a re-fill.

Four well-placed 45MM grenades would sure raise the dickens with a pack of Islammonazi convoy bushwhackers, though.

I'd kinda like to see one of these remote control choppers fitted out with a .22 rimfire minigun with as much ammo aboard as they can fly with.
That would likely give a bunch of Jihaddists a particularly unpleasant surprise.

If they really want to die so much, why not fill their hides full of .22 hi-speeds and let them fester, ooze, and writhe in anguish for a couple of weeks first?

Perhaps they will then identify a little with the survivors of 9/11 who were severly burned in that Islammonazi inflicted inferno.

A short burst of .22s into any suspicious object in or alongside the road ahead of a convoy might well help to eliminate any IED content without causing a lot of colatteral mayhem I suppose. Especially if the weapon could be directed straight down to reduce the likelyhood of latteral riccochet.
And just think what about 2400 RPM of .22 could do to a certain black turban in about 1/2 of a second?!

How about a 45MM grenade cannon on one side and the .22 mini on the other? That sounds like a system that I'd like to play with!

Did you watch the video clip of the little Robo-chopper in action? The darned thing sounds like a flying chain-saw!
Hardly "stealth", I'd say - but after it lit up a few bushwhackers they would probably learn to vamoose as soon as they heard the infernal thing coming, don't you suppose?
