The new Iraq government would do well to stand on it's own, and not be a shadow of the U.S. Haven't we been trying to give this new government a multi-lateral type send off?

A multilateral send off? What the hell is that?

Do we want this new governemnt to appear to the world to be our puppet regime?

Doesn't matter what I want, they'll appear as a puppet regime as long as we are there. Everyone knows this.

Bush was upbeat and positive, you could learn a thing or two from him. Have a great day.

But every once in a while you should contribute something to a thread...instead of your tired old canards...

The reason I ranted about the "uh, umm, uhms" is that the liberal news media, will no doubt select the worst portion of his answers for tonight's lamestream 'news'.

Rant over. I liked what he said REGARDLESS of SMOOTHNESS of lack of.

Go W!

CNN Int. anchor chimes in:

"A really remarkable performance"

Unlike you Miss Marple, I don't hang around the Free Republic in little cliques

What is it with some malcontents and their misguided and misplaced idea of "cliques"?

Just because certain people are drawn to read and discuss certain topics, and some have formed friendships and are simpatico, does not a "clique" make.

You sound juvenile and petty. For the life of me I don't understand this complaint. Especially since those who voice such usually enjoy the company of their own like-minded compadres.

Why don't you try focusing on the issues at hand and stop nursing the pain you suffered in high school when you weren't part of the in crowd?

I told you I was curious.

I always wonder when people make across the board condemnation of an entire people group, as you did, what their basis for it is.

It wasn't a stupid question. And I thank you for your answer (though it would have been nicer without the accompanying insults).

You are an Apache (COOL! Brave, strong ancestry), and you think you're innately superior to Arabs.

Now I would like to know why.

And I also would like to know why, if you are from such noble ancestry, that you whine so much........

Thank you long time freeper Keith! I missed this as it was happening, and I most appreciate your wrap-up opinion.

Fingers crossed our President has figured out that playing "Mr. Nice Guy" doesn't work with reporters, and we don't like it either.

Sorry my opinion don't conform to the group think. Regards.....

David Gregory looks like he's about to become physically ill. A sign the President's doing well?

I thought the same thing!

I thought he looked sullen that they had to stand while the president granted a nice long press conference. The president did well, plus took away the complaint of infrequent press conferences, which he's actually been giving pretty regularily.

"Politics has broken out in Iraq"

Was that seen as a good or bad thing? In other words was it, "politics=democracy and freedom" or "politics=divisiveness and chaos"?

I got to see the whole thing over in the chow hall. I'm so jazzed. I usually miss stuff like that, but for once, I had good timing.

So good to see Dubya on TV again.

More positive news on CNN Int.

Their correspondent in Baghdad is talking about Iraqi reaction to today's development:

"I'll have to tell you. It is as positive as I have ever seen. People seem genuinly excited about todays development, about getting their own government"

The correspondent almost sounded dissapointed :-)

I guess that means Germany is a puppet regime cause we are still there huh?

Having spent some years in Germany, I'd say yes to a certain extent. The big question there is, why are we still in Germany? It's costing tax payers billions.....

" ANWR would be past its peak today and the state would be having budget problems anyway."

Had we started on a drilling program back in the late 90s, ANWAR would just be starting to produce today. But I assume you knew that and were just making a joke.

Just had the opportunity to scroll through all of your comments -- THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE TIME TO US CUBICLE-BOUND FOLKS UPDATED!

I'm ecstatic that the President ENJOYED his press conference -- Rush just indicated that he was positively EBULLIENT!! [Rush also indicated that he would air 'clips' from the press conference throughout his show!]

Have you stated an opinion about the subject of this thread, Joe?

If so, I missed it.

What IS your opinion about the fact that the Iraqis are becoming a sovereign country with their own democratic government, free from the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein??

No groupthink required...........just a legitimate opinion, and without the whining, if you are able..........

I don't think you understood my post.

I was suggesting that you don't contribute to a thread not because you don't conform to "group think" (that so 1984) ...but because you don't say anything of substance...

Can you add to the debate?

What a refreshing change that would be.

I cannot believe I missed a press conference where the president did so well and sounded strong. Dang it all anyway.
