I read 'Mid-Century' before I read his USA trilogy, and was astounded to find him such a commie! lol!

Orwell was a more subtle man than you credit him, imo.

He saw through the commie hoax before his comrades - give him that.

I never mentioned Orwell and have always applauded his complete turnaround,from strident Commie to rabid anti-Commie! I give him a lot of credit;unlike,dos Passos,who was a stinking Commie,who,to the best of my knowledge,NEVER wrote a book/books recanting his garbage.

I was forced to read ALL of the books you mentioned and it was a VERY painful episode in my education.The teacher was MAD for dos Passos;damned near genuflected every time she said his name.YUCK!
