Americans are optimistic, "very satisfied with life" and have confidence in their public institutions, especially the U.S. armed forces and law-enforcement agencies, two new polls show.
Fifty-six percent of Americans say their personal situation has improved over the last five years, up seven points since last year, and 68 percent expect their personal situation to improve over the next five years, up five points from 2003, a Harris poll released yesterday found.

Kerry's toast.
Harris and Gallup are the only polling orgs. that have any credibility.
It was Harris that predicted the virtual "tie" in the 2000 Elections.
Kerry requires a steady diet of national disasters to win. Pretty dicey for him, things are getting better in Iraq and the economy, not worse.
I heard yesterday that a pollster said that people tend to vote how they felt about things a few months ago. By November Kerry will be the biggest political joke since Dukakakkkaaakakass.
