SUBWAY SHOOTING
New York Post ^ | 2 June, 2004 | DAN MANGAN, MURRAY WEISS and TODD VENEZIA

A model who played a bit part on TV's "Law and Order" became the center of a real-life crime drama beneath Times Square yesterday when a mystery gunman shot her while she rode the subway, cops said.

Monica Meadows, a 22-year-old Georgia beauty who recently moved to New York to pursue stardom, told cops she was sipping a soda on an uptown W train approaching the Times Square station when she heard a popping noise — and saw her white sweater turn red with blood.

She staggered out of the train at the bustling station — her shoulder burning with pain — while the "scruffy"-looking gunman made his escape in the crowd of fleeing straphangers, police sources said.

"There was just a loud pop," said a 25-year-old student who witnessed the attack. "Nobody even knew she was shot.

"All of a sudden, she started gushing blood and people ran away.

What makes this such an interesting story is that the socio-economic health of New York City over the last couple of decades has been largely defined by the level of crime in the subways -- particularly crimes involving visitors from other places.

If they find the guy it will be a miracle. There are lots of scruffy people in NYC.

This of course didn't happen. NYC has some of the most stringent gun control laws in the US - Wash DC may be a bit more stringent. Since everyone knows that restricting law abiding citizens' access to guns prevents crime, and NYC prevents law abiding citizens from firearms access, this crime never happened and the girl wasn't shot.

There are lots of scruffy people in NYC.

Witness: He was kinda, you know, scruffy looking.
Detective Briscoe: Scruffy looking, hugn? Well I guess that narrows it down to, I dunno, eight million people?

"on an uptown W train"

So, once again it's W's fault.

I remember when it was de riguer to always offer your seat to a lady.

Now one gets shot, and it's no longer a case of damsel in distress, but a case of save your own a$$ ASAP.

"Monica Meadows, a 22-year-old Georgia beauty who recently moved to New York to pursue stardom"

I am always revulsed by these types of bimbos. Give me a well grounded, not so attractive, woman ANYDAY of the year.

They always go from 'seeking stardom' because they think they are so damn good looking, straight to admin assistant after they realize 12 billion other bimbos are there in town 'seeking stardom'.

yech....nitwits.

She shouldn't get shot up (by a deranged fan probably) on a train though. Bizarre. It's not like train shootings happen every day in NYC.
