Not good
"Not good."
Not necessarily bad. One of the things that has become common since Nixon and escalated during Clinton's time is the need for retaining outside attnys. Clinton and nearly everyone in his admin. retained one at some time or another, and not even all of them were guilty. It is just best to go to Grand Juries prepared with the best lawyer to represent you.
As someone here states, you can't use govt. lawyers about personal things. I wish Novak had that column back and in his scrambled eggs for breakfast.
The whole thing is a small tempest in a teacup--not even important enough for the pot.

I love this president. He works the left like trained poodles.
Not necessarily .. what if the President has found out that the responsible person was Richard Clarke .. who was working in the WH at the time.
The president may want to know what the WH liability is for Richard's actions.
He has to have a non-government lawyer because that lawyer would provide no privacy for the President.
So some private lawyer will I am sure volunteer his time so the President can have advice that isn't open to the public.
If he used a public attorney, every question the President asked and all advice given could end up in a campaign ad against him.
