If gas prices would just drop to under $1.60 and the Iraq transfer goes ok, then Bush shouldn't have much problem.

I have been saying for months that people vote their pocket books and their wallets. If the economy is strong in November, then Bush will win. The only thing working against him in this regard is the so-called, "jobless" recovery. One the jobs start to hit, probably July and August figures, then bush's numbers will rise accordingly.

The economy isn't doing any good at all. I happen to know that it is, but just wait. You'll have a plethora of posters who will try to prove to you that it's not.
Stay tuned.

How come I'm not reading about all this good economic news in the papers or seeing it in the nightly news?

This great news about the economy just warms the cockles of my heart...haven't you noticed how Kerry keeps popping his head up in these gopher holes, (you know the computer game I'm talking about), trying to make something stick to President Bush? Time to hammer El Kerry for good.

Totally anecdotal stuff, but I have for a year kept people posted on those "out of work" whom I know. One is a former SAIC engineer who was close enough to retirement that when the defense boom collapsed in the late 1990s, he never sought another job. Technically, he is still "unemployed."
Recently, another SAIC engineer I know just had bad luck: he bailed on SAIC, which had at minimum a 2-year contract on a program, and went with Northrup . . . only to have the Northrup contract go bust. He is now searching. But technically he is "unemployed."
My brother in law just got a job as a partner in a Michigan resort landscape/maintenance firm. It's more than a job, its a part-ownership/MGT position. So he is no longer unemployed (even though he did have a lower-paying landscaping job here).
Finally, a former Huffy exec we know who has been out of work for 2 years just hooked on with a company.
So for those who want work, it's looking up (3 out of 4).

What has put this economy in the tank, and continues to hold it there is "
usury".
After the "real robber barons" have stolen any and all the equity that people had, for a line of consumer credit that the lenders spend untold millions advertising, they have left the people bankrupt.
If you need proof just pick up your local newspaper and look at the foreclosures for nonpayment of note, or look at the bankruptcies.
A certain segment of society is preying on the other to a degree we have never seen before in this country. It's disgusting.

This proves the Bush tax cuts for the rich didn't do anything at all for the economy.

New jobs are being generated in large numbers, income is growing at twice the rate of last year, and the acceleration is such that we will probably see 5 percent growth in the gross domestic product. The jobs reports of the past few months have changed market sentiment. Sixty-one percent of private industries surveyed have added workers. That's the highest in four years.
So is the media going to start calling this a jobful recovery?
