I heard that when civilian air traffic controllers handle the Black Bird they have to do so some five states ahead, it's moving so fast. There is also a legend about an exchange between a Black Bird pilot an a civilian ATC (the ATC has no idea it's a classified aircraft) wherein the Black Bird requests an altitude of someling like 75,000 feet. There is a stunned silence and the ATC says something to the effect of "Well if you can get up there, it's all yours!" Whereupon the Black Bird comes back instantly with his call sign and indicates he is descending to that altitude!

I live on Whidbey, and I thought the "booms" were the usual sonic booms I hear occasionally from fighter planes coming from the Whidbey Is. Naval air base Maybe the "booms" were the jets scurrying in pursuit, and the intense light was the kill. The target either a broken arrow or an enemy missile.Probably one of our own went astray.

I
KNEW it! Setting us up for an "Independance Day" scenario! Anybody ever read a book by Arthur C. Clark titled "Childhood's End?"
I recently read a book by a Christian author that specializes in analysis of "End Times" prophesy and the Rapture (Hal Lindsey) and he said that Hollywood has been setting up the inevitability of "other-worldly" contact for decades. IF such a huge ship were to appear on the cusp of a globally tragic event the "Being" inside it might be universally accepted as a "savior." Especially if there were no more believers currently residing on the Earth. Interesting hypothesis on the arrival of the AntiChrist, don't you think?

I think that we have a couple of former Blackbird Jocks on Free Republic.
There are all types of great stories like that one. Dateline stories and other interesting tales.

About seven-eight years ago there were reports of people in the Seattle area waking up in the middle of the night and finding people (?) dressed as clowns in their bedrooms. I almost called Art Bell about those reports. Monsters, Inc. doing some test marketing.

So where is Bremerton AFB or is Bremerton the name of the city?

Bremerton is the name of the city. There is no air force base in the area besides McChord. There is a naval shipyard in Bremerton. It was where the battle ship Missouri was mothballed.

"Geoff Chester, a spokesman for the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. said it was a type of meteor called a bolide, one which appears bright like a fireball in the sky." I saw one of those about 20 years ago, and I remember it well. There was this bright fireball with a long, luminous tail moving at an almost flat trajectory at an elevation of about 40 degrees from my perspective. I believe it was moving towards the west or the northwest. It was not a little speck in the sky, it was bright, but it did not light up the sky like daylight, either. It faded out after a few seconds. Later, there was a loud boom that sounded like a cannon (it seemed like it was only a minute later, but that seems like to little time).
I have seen rockets fall back to earth two or three times in my life. One I saw was in three parts, and they had tails of bright blue flame. What impressed me most was that the flame was clearly of a blueish color. Right then I figured it had to be a manmade object and the color of the flame was due to the fuel or other chemicals. The objects came in at a sharp trajectory. They were kind of big, and then faded, and there was no boom. The news the next day said it was probably an old Russian rocket or satellite.

LOL. The "Aussie Bloke" anonymous posts claiming unverifiable information being refuted by another anonymous source claiming unverifiable information to the contrary.
