After reading and hearing Hanoi Johns testimony (AKA North Vietnamese propaganda release) for the Nth time, I caught something I had missed.
He stated that wires from field phones were hooked up to human genitals, and the power turned up.
I used field phones numerous times. When I was a Saigon Warrior for a few months I was an NCS - operating several radios and phones w/ switchboard. I do not recall seeing or using any telephones with rheostat control on the line out. Power was either on or disconnected.
Can someone let me know what type of phone Hanoi Johns veterans were using that they could turn the power up?

rheostat bump, altho kerry's personal hardwiring preference seems to be the oscillator. ;)
