Yes, Parkinson's is pretty bad. My Gamma pretty much died of it. It is a real destructive force. Il Papa sure was inspiring when he was younger. But he still is, isn't he?Just think how many souls he's saving by suffering the way he is.
Wrong. Poland was strictly undermined by the efforts of the Pope. The massive popular groundswell to defy the puppet government was built on a spiritual awakening, not a political one. The Pope essentially commanded his native brothers and sisters to take back what was rightfully theirs - their dignities. He gave them courage and confidence that God was with them.

First of all, I still don't see the slap. I can't imagine the President showed up without knowing well ahead of time that this would come up. In fact, the Pope went out of his way to address the issue in general terms without specifically naming Abu Graib.
I guess you were equally appalled when Mother Theresa purposely and publicly bitch-slapped President Clinton and Hillary on the issue of abortion when she came to America and appeared with them (can't remember the exact occasion, but we were all delighted)...

Reporting on the President's visit with the Pope at the top of the hour, the newsreader said that the President was 15 minutes late for his meeting with the Pope. ABC News said that this is a breach of Vativan Protocol.

I've said it before, and I'll say it as long as I have to: In '94, he had a stroke as he was getting into the shower, causing him to fall and break his hip. I'm not totally discounting Parkinson's, but really, he should have resigned as soon as he had the stroke. I do love the man and am as defensive of his great accomplishments as the next guy, but I really am not sure if he's aware of how off-the-cliff his bishops have gone on this side of the pond. They are, to a large extent, the reason the 'ideals' behind Vatican II have been distorted and the Mass has been turned into Romper Room in many parishes.
But still, 'Viva il Papa'!!!

For a Catholic, it's nice to see the pope honoring the US through the president...and vice-versa. Re: Kerry....I suppose if he were president, the pope would recieve him....but he would give him a damn good comuppance [sp!]
given Kerry's posit on abortion etc. I remember when the
pope was visiting some Latin American hell hole where the socialsts were in charge, and one of those present was a priest or bishop who was also a member of that government and the pope really gave him hell for being a leftist involved in politics. I have a feeling if Kerry were to meet the pope, the pope would tell him he should stop recieving communion while he has the attitude he does on abortion et al.
