New DNC talking point - "How can we gloat about our material prosperity when Iraqi criminals are being forced to wear panties on their heads!?"

I'm betting a month of unemployment benefits that the opening of *ssface Moore's film will preceed the news of employment gains.

Great news, thanks for posting, JH2. I have sent it on to family and friends, just in case some newspapers 'forget' to publish this news ;-)

The REVISED figures for the last 3 months show that nearly 1,000,000 new jobs were created, and the total since September is over 1,400,000. WOW!!!

Average hours and overtime hours are both higher - rather
significant rises since last quarter '03. This is not the
end of the beginning of this cycle... it still looks very
robust and healthy to me and we may still be in the starting
blocks.

Also, amazingly enough, there has been a constant number over
that time for "govt jobs".

The internals are all pointing to a very healthy and balanced
expansion now.

248,000 payroll jobs added in May; Jobless rate: 5.6%

At this rate, I don't think the 'RATS/Kerry will be able to use jobs and the economy against Bush/GOP this fall !

Yep ! You're right, John. Lil tommy is .....

Saddened, deeply saddened . . .

"Hiring last month was widespread, with businesses adding an overall 248,000 new jobs across the economy. Industries that posted the biggest gains included construction, health care, professional and business services and hotels and restaurants.

"What is really key is that every major sector had improvements," said John Silvia, chief economist for Wachovia Securities. "That suggests these gains are sustainable."

248K new jobs created. Good news for America.

If this keeps up through July, all the so-called job losses of the last 3-1/2 years will have been recovered. Another issue John Kerry and his Librat buddies can't throw at PresBush. Shame the partisan media doesn't report good news with the same gusto they report bad news.

Does anyone have a link or know where I can find information as to the total workforce in America when clinton left and the number of people working today?

I believe 138mil were employed when clinton left. Links would be really helpful.

Bump and thanks for posting this! And remember, this is NON-farm payroll, just as we are moving into farming season and the overwhelming need for additional farm laborers.

Rather, Jennings et al will somehow find the downside of this, I can already hear it: "Despite encouraging job-growth figures for April, some economists fear that continued uncertainty in Iraq and unprecedented budget deficitis will short-circuit any long-term economic recovery." Or something like that . . .

John Kerry plans to tank the employment situation.
From Kerry's website:
"The Most Sweeping International Tax Reform in Over Four Decades in Order to Encourage Companies to Create Jobs in America and Stop Shifting Jobs Overseas for Tax Reasons

John Kerry is unveiling a comprehensive economic agenda that will unleash the productive potential of America's economy to help it create 10 million jobs in his first term as President. Over the next several weeks, Kerry will unveil a series of proposals that will restore confidence in the economy and spur job creation.

10 million jobs in 4 years.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 947,000 jobs have been created over the last 3 months (1/4 year). At this rate, that equates to over 15 million jobs created in a one-term period of four years ( (947,000x4)x4 ).

Kerry want's to cut the employment rate of increase by 66%.

And people will still vote for him.

Great news!

I'll believe the economy is bad when I see Michael Moore skinny and starving in the streets, until then...
