As I said, I understand why some might want to post it. But any positive reasons are far, far outweighed by the negative, in my opinion. At any given time, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of lurkers out there. FR has a much wider audience than just those of us who participate on threads regularly. We can't assume that all are above gullibility and immune to this type of mindless gossip.
Perhaps I'm over-reacting, perhaps not. In any case, this type of bilge is highly offensive to me, because I know the damage it can cause — yes, even with the counterpoint of which you speak. Besides, I will defend this President with every fiber of my being.

Interesting. In an age of instant 24/7 news with a number of new sources (internet & all) it seems to be getting very easy to start a 'story' by talking about rumors and unnamed sources. Once a 'regular' news organization gets the news item - viola - now there is a reported news story (sounds a lot like the Kerry lover story). These news items then take on a life of their own. Both left & right appear to be getting better at 'creative reporting'.
He is by his own admission an alcoholic but he always says he's dry.
I can't say for sure but he doesn't write as though he's dry.
And no, I didn't mean he takes the crap down because he's ashamed of it. He takes it down because he gets challenged.

His story should serve as a cautionary tale for this forum. He rode high on FR when he blasted Clinton with unrestrained hatred. Now that he has brought to bear the same mental unbalance in his attacks on Bush, Freepers should be chastened.
Bottom line, mental health is the first criteria to be considered when assessing the worthiness of a pundit. Sober, prudent people may be boring, but at least they know which side of the bed they got up on this morning. Guys like Thompson don't.
Let's hope like many of us who lurk--stay for the full record and not go off half cocked with half the info.
If only we could do all the news gatherers this way and show their past history of lies and misinformation.
