Gee...I forgot about those unreported scores of soldiers requesting asylum in Syria from our oppressive nation. Now it all makes sense.

Exactly! While Iraq may be hell..as any war is, I doubt that American soldiers are going to seek asylum from the very people who want them DEAD! They'd be much safer in thier units, no matter how rough it may be.

I never cease to be amazed at the absolute disregard many of the citizens of this area of the world have for simple truth. It's as if they believe that saying it makes it true. I don't know how many times they have been discredited, but their every claim seems to receive reflexive support from people who should know better. The response is that the BS they've put forth is assumed to be the truth and it's up to the other side to disprove their claims. I didn't see any of the video tape, but unless it shows nonstop wedding celebrating dissolving into scenes of people being fired on from above it proves nothing.

Ok, then how about a bit of a warning in the title, like "Iraqi Witness Exposes Reasons For US Targeting Village Wedding (Arabic Propoganda BARF)"?

Believe me, this article is complete BS. I would be very surprised if ANY American soldiers have deserted in Iraq. No doubt the DoD has statistics on this and would willingly share them with any legitimate news agency.

I didn't know FR allowed enemy propoganda to be posted without a disclaimer.

Hmm...sure sounds a lot like a certain political party I know. Birds of a feather...

I should have put "Barf Alert" in the title. My bad.

I posted it (and my comments) because this actually goes a long way to disproving the "wedding" story. If a relative of the so-called groom is pumping out BS like this, it just proves he's a liar and goes a long way towards proving other so-called relatives peddling the wedding story are liars too. Also, the fact that he admits "The people who live in the village are of the al-Bu Fahd tribes, a part of the large Arab Dulaym tribal federation in Iraq. They have played a big role in providing the Resistance with supplies, equipment, weapons, everything" is important. I posted it for that reason.

It would have been better if I put a "barf alert" in the title. I wouldn't mind if the moderator added it.

Well said! Uh, remember "We (the Iraqis) are in complete control of the airport", "The Americans will never enter the city", "Our counteroffensive will roll the infidels back to Kuwait." HAHAHA. I kept looking for our tanks to roll behind the Iraqi Disinformation Minister when he was doing his interviews. He was hilarious!

On a serious note, you do make a good point. What if you are a typical Arab who is fed this BS on a daily basis? No wonder they hate us.

Also, I don't usually get persnickety about the dates people joined but, since you're objecting to my post, I see that you joined abut 30 days ago. I've been here since 1997. I think my credentials have been established. I'm not peddling "enemy propaganda". It's sometimes instructive to know what the "enemy" is saying. In this case, I think the comments of the "uncle" actually tell us a lot, if we read between the lines.

"We would smuggle them for a price, that could go as high as $10,000 in some cases"

Visa, mastercard, or will you take a check? How bout an IOU?

(and more likely just another example of the bizarre propaganda produced by Islamics that would be sniffed out by a first-grader in Bugtussle, Oklahoma.)

Hell, this one wouldn't even get past the pool hall in Bowlegs...

If any Americans were being smuggled, they were likely to be prisoners! Not deserters, as this clown suggests.

Definitely far-fetched. Guess the little creep wanted to see his name in the paper--his 15 minutes of fame.

I think 'Abu' has been smoking the poppy juice, smuggled in from Afghanistan.

No enlisted man would have the $10,000 to be smuggled and no officer would take the offer. And for what? To be smuggled to Syria? Talk about out of the frying pan...

We've gone from the smoking gun to just blowing smoke.

How do you screw up a totally useless barren desert wasteland?

Answer. Fill it up with Islamic idiots that speak and believe such sh*t as this.

the real reason for the US attack had been to strike at a village and its elders who were involved not in fighting the occupation, but in helping US troops escape from military service in Iraq

This one needed a double bag barf alert.

Touche'!

(I'm sure someone at MoveOn.Org has proof that "Halliburton" was expunged from
the uncensored version because of John Ashcroft and The Patriot Act.)
