Big Brothers Director Indicted On Rape Charge 29-Count Indictment Accuses Russell Of Sex With Boy

POSTED: 11:31 am EDT June 4, 2004 UPDATED: 5:37 pm EDT June 4, 2004

NEWARK, Ohio -- The executive director of a youth mentoring program in Newark is named in a 29-count grand jury indictment accusing him of having sex with a boy over a seven-year period.

If convicted of rape, James Russell, 65, of Granville, faces a mandatory life sentence, since the alleged rapes began when the boy was 12 years old.

Russell has been suspended as head of the Big Brothers organization in Newark.

The indictment returned by a Licking County grand jury on Thursday includes four counts of rape, eight counts of gross sexual imposition, 11 counts of sexual battery and six counts of corruption of a minor.

Russell is accused of abusing the boy -- who is now 19 -- between 1996 and June of last year.

Licking County Prosecutor Robert Becker said the 19-year-old is believed to be the only victim.

Russell, who is free on bond, is scheduled to be arraigned June 14.

Russell co-founded Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Licking and Perry Counties in 1969, and has served as executive director for the past eight years, according to the Newark Advocate.

This guy should get triple the punishment.

I can't imagine anyone using Big Brothers in this day and age.

I see pictures in my local paper of children in need of mentoring and it just gives me the shivers.

But, but, but ... according to political correctness it is unlawful to profile ... even sexual degenerates can mentor a child, according to the leftists societal engineers. So a few children are sexually abused, these same promoters of societal degeneracy defend the 'right' to slaughter alive unborn children, so why wouldn't they sexually sacrifice a few children to put in place the equality of degenerates? It's for the children, don'tcha know!

Didn't the National Big Brothers open the ranks to let gay men serve as Big Brothers about a year ago? Looks to me like their real goals have been revealed. Hope they hang this guy and drive the fags out.

In this story, the Associated Press neglected to mention -- probably on purpose -- a critical fact about the Big Brothers organization. BB is one of the charities which deals with children which has a national policy not to DISCRIMINATE AGAINST HOMOSEXUALS BY KEEPING THEM AWAY FROM THE BOYS THAT bb SEEKS TO "HELP."

In short, Bib Brothers contributed to the environment in which this (apparent) seven year pattern of homosexual assault occurred. And the Boy Scouts, who have the opposite policy of rejecting homosexuals as adult leaders, remain under attack.

Both of these points, about Bib Brothers and about the Boy Scouts, rightfully belong in this story.

Homosexual Agenda Ping + Big Brothers Alert. You should all know that (AFAIK) the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization now accepts homosexuals as mentors, and doesn't think that parents need to know. I have heard that some local chapters have different rules; I don't know much autonomy the local organizations have.

The very thought that a homosexual could be a good mentor, leader, or teacher for youth is abhorrent. Throughout history this was understood. The only reason for pushing homosexuals as scout leaders, teacher or Big Brothers (or sisters) is to promote seduction of the young.

SICK!

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

I don't know, but there are just too many weirdos out there to be entrusting your most valuable possession in life to someone you don't know.

(That was a reeeely bad sentence, must get sleep)

Isn't this the group that pushed thru some rule that gays should be big brothers and not to tell the moms?

I don't know about that...but I think it was a year or so ago when
a Big Brothers chapter in Washington State rejected an applicant...and basically said that
his active participation at his church was a problem. So he got rejected
as far as being considered to be a "Big Brother".
That got some play on talk radio.

Well you need to evaluate the overall well being and change in betterment (delta B for those of you in Rio Linda).

The boy was mentored and thus recieved great benefits. Are not these benefits greater than the unsocial stigma of a little sex? I mean, come on, the kid had no father figure and the bond established is so great the good undoubtedly outweighs the harm.
