VIENNA, AUSTRIA -- Leaders, former dissidents and ordinary citizens across Eastern Europe expressed gratitude to Ronald Reagan for helping to end decades of "evil empire" communism and Cold War-era oppression.

Most of the region threw off Communist rule in 1989, the year Reagan retired from a presidency marked by determination to loosen the grip of the Soviet Union through diplomacy and unrelenting appeals to the masses via Radio Free Europe.

Laurentiu Ivan, 35, a customs officer in the Romanian capital, struggled to describe Reagan's legacy and then said: "It is due to him that we are free."

I was once reading the auto-biography of a man who was a citizen of Russia when it was still communist(sorry, do not recall the book's title or the author.) He was a Teacher, and when he and his fellow Teachers heard about the invasion of Grenada, they went to an empty room in their school building, taking care to lock the door so no one would see what they were about to do. There, they drank a toast to Ronald Reagan.

If 41 was half the man 40 was, Tianamen Square would have spread like wild fire and we wouldn't have to worry about what those sickening Commies in China would do with our military intel when 42 got into office.

How good it is to hear that at least some of those who were liberated by Reagan and his vision understand to whom they owe their freedom. Too many in this country don't understand that Reagan's efforts freed half the world.

Never is.We look at things from slightly different perspective.I find interesting a bold fact about the death of one our Best.. President or soldier..can attract responsive minds that attack each other at some level while the enemy evolves. So I find it peculiar.I find, found, and lost reason with this reason.I bid you all well.

Say what?

Are you writing sentences, or phrases? or prose?

Please speak in plain English.

And, pray tell, what is the meaning of this post, if you don't mind to elaborate?

Too many in this country don't understand that Reagan's efforts freed half the world.

And if the country can hold together the other half of the world can be freed too.

Plain? No.I really do like plain though.Plain is good like the air in the forest.Plain is often too easily seen through and there is no point for any mental stuff because we all feal the loss. What I was trying to express was an overwhelming sigh. That is, a distress.Okay, let's go backward. Or let's not because we don't have the time.

Our media sees to it that most of America hears little about how liberated people feel about Reagan having affected their lives. If they mention the fall of communism at all, it's to praise Gorby.
