Gay Days becoming upscale in Orlando ("gay is more mainstream")
South Florida Sun-Sentinel ^ | June 6 2004 | Mike Schneider

ORLANDO · Greg Ruffer scanned the hotel's exhibition hall and realized something was different about the vendors catering to the 14th annual Gay Days.

Instead of the ubiquitous rainbow flags, T-shirts and trinkets found at most gay events, there were Bloomingdales merchants offering $500-a-setting china for bridal registries, Nordstrom makeup artists giving makeovers and a skin care company selling eye gel for $110 an ounce.

Some attendees, whose numbers could reach 130,000 this weekend, say the upscale slant is a sign of progress at Gay Days, a march toward the mainstream in an age of gay marriages in Massachusetts and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy on television.

"Maybe there isn't such a need for a rallying symbol since gay is more mainstream," Ruffer said of the absence of rainbow merchandise. "Maybe we're in a new era."

Oh, this is going to do wonders for family-based tourism in Orlando.

That's really the only reason they targetted Orlando, isn't it?

Jesus said, "...Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." Matt. 7:13

Homosexual Agenda Ping - Just read the excerpt, not sure if I have the stomach to click the link and read the entire volume of effluvia.

Mainstream - meaning they think they've won the culture war. We may have lost some battles - no doubt. But the war is not over.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

We practice risk management where I work. The gay activists must not give it much serious thought, because if the verse you quoted is right, they are risking much. If God doesn't exist, the best they can hope for is to have their lusts satisfied--probably an elusive goal. However, if the Bible accurately describes a God who DOES exist, they risk eternal Hell. On the one hand, a relatively few minutes of pleasure from time to time. On the other hand, eternal torment! It seems to me the wise choice is to try and make peace with the Lord, especially since He freely offers the gift of eternal life to those who repent.

There was a gay pride parade on Olive Ave in Fresno CA on Saturday. I couldn't stomach it - it's just one block away from where we live. Read about it in today's paper. Seems like the whole community is very prideful about the gay lifestyle. The theme of the parade was gay marriage. There was a picture of a couple of lesbians - one wearing a male tuxedo and the other wearing a WHITE wedding gown. Apparently, there were two protesters but the paper made them out to be a couple of religious freaks. Sheeeeesh.

Note that the article doesn't mention what dates you need to avoid orlando like the plague.

Why won't they pub;ish the dates that orlando becomes little sodom?

(I'll be travelling to FL in late July and want to be sure I miss this. Won't spend any money in orlando anyway because they tolerate this but don't even want to pass through when the sodomites are there)

Sadly, the wife and I had to wade through these people in Orlando Saturday night. Not realizing we were so close in proximity to the Gay-boy Days, the Windham Palace Hotel, and "Arthur's 27" (27th floor) was where we had decided to celebrate our 16 wedding anniversary.

We had our reservations and showed up promtly all dressed up and ready for a relaxing evening. When we arrived our path to the elevators was clogged with 100 or so young men. We saw 3 women. It was pretty disgusting. They don't want to be stereotyped, but they couldn't have been more stereotypical if they tried.

Big muscled, shirtless and waxed up in the Palce lobby. Holding hads and kissing. Two of the elevators were not working and it was about a 10 minute wait to get on the elevator. When we finally got on one we were packed in pretty tightly. My back was against the wall and Mrs. Subterfuge's was pressed against me.

One of the boys seemed to sense our discomfort and looked at us and effeminately exclaimed "we're clean!" Fortunately there were no gay-boys (apparently) in the restaraunt, I guess because it is pricey. (But aren't they supposed to have all that discretionary income lying around since they don't have kids? Or could it be they don't live much past 40?)

Anyway, the night went okay altough we had to go through much the same thing on the way out.

Oh, and they shouldn't call it "gay days". It should be called "gay-boy day" because the participants are 99% men under the age of 30.
