New York Stock Exchange to observe two-minute trading halt in Reagan tribute

NEW YORK -- The New York Stock Exchange will shorten its trading session by two minutes on Monday as a tribute to former President Ronald Reagan.

The exchange will begin trading at 9:32 a.m. EDT, two minutes later than usual. Reagan died Saturday at his California home at age 93.

"The New York Stock Exchange community joins the world in mourning the passing of President Ronald Reagan, a great champion of free people and free markets," the NYSE said in a statement Sunday. "Our thoughts and sympathy are with President Reagan's family and loved ones."

Traditionally, the NYSE observes a two-minute moment of silence in trading to observe the deaths of U.S. presidents, exchange spokesman Ray Pellecchia said.
