In California, according to a Democratic House leadership staffer, Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi's office refused until late in the day West Coast time to prepare any remarks by the leader on the passing of the president.
'A call went out mid day on the East Coast that Reagan might be in serious condition, and that party leaders should be ready. But Pelosi's people basically said that they couldn't be bothered.'
Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer had to get them in line. We got the impression that they just didn't want to say anything that would be construed as supportive of a Republican.
Pelosi's office also nixed sending flowers to the burial home where the president's body was being prepared for burial.
Back in Washington, staffers at the DNC stopped a couple of interns who were lowering the flags to half mast outside their headquarters.
'Somebody a bit more senior told them not to lower the flags unless they absolutely had to, I guess when President Bush announced that all flags should be lowered,' said a DNC staff who heard about the incident.
'There was only an hour's difference. It was pretty petty, but that's how bad things have gotten around here.'

Well I actually agree with the flag business. Interns should not make decisions about lowering the flag, under any circumstances. Let it be strictly under Presidential order. Even though the intern's heart was right, it should be strictly controlled. Otherwise we'll have the flag lowered every time Osama bin
Kennedy Laden gets heartburn.
The rest of it, though, is despicable and petty, though unfortunately, not unexpected.

Yes, they are nasty people. No, no everyone. But if you took 100 people and picked the nastiest 50 of them, it would not surprise me at all that 48 of them were DemocRATS. There is just something different about them.

Whatever goes around, comes around. Nancy "the bitch" Pelosi, Hillary "the witch" Clinton, Bill "911 Causer" Clinton, Jamie "Traitor" Gorelick, Al "crazy loon" Gore will all die cold lonely deaths. Those that live in hate will rest in the hate of hell for eternity!
To: Izzy Dunne
Not unexpected.
But even if she made the most magnanimous gesture she still would have had hateful epitaphs thrown her way by the hate filled minority here.
Angry, hateful people come in all political persuasions. Reagan had class that is why he will remembered for who he was.

1). Pelosi = Mean-spirited bitch.
2). DNC = I really expected nothing less.
3). One who has some resemblance of class in a sad situation - I heard on the radio that Teddy even made sure to call the Reagan family as soon as he heard. Though I absolutely despise him, I have to give him due credit for showing class in this situation. I guess that there is some difference between him and the Clinton-McAullife faction.

Real night crawlers, today's democratic leaders.
Has anyone heard from Jimmy Carter, or is he still nursing HIS grudge?

Their behavior is strikingly similar to the Wellstone funeral. Whereas they used that instance to have a vile and despicable pep-rally, they are using this instance to have a vile and despicable hate-fest. Both will accomplish the same end: their efforts will end in scorn and ridicule being heaped upon them. A person cannot be this vitriolic and it not come back ten-fold.
