Administration lawyers concluded in a policy paper last year that a president can legally order interrogators to torture terrorist suspects.

The lawyers, who were not identified by name, were part of a working group writing a policy governing interrogation techniques to be used at the prison for terrorist suspects at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

However, Pentagon spokesman Lawrence Di Rita said Monday that the final set of interrogation methods adopted for use at Guantanamo in April 2003 are humane, legal and useful - and more restrictive than the methods some had proposed.

By local laws, mybe, I am distinctly impression that our Senate has ratified the Geneva convention, which forbids such things.

Order of precedence: Constitution --> Treaties with other nations --> Federal law --> state constitution --> state law --> local law

Why doesn`t Bush authorize Kerry to talk to these terrorists about being in Vietnam? That way Bush wins two fold; The terrorists get inhuman torture and the liberals won`t complain about it.

Geneva convention specifically deals with combatants that are state sponsored. The terrorists have no immunity and talk when they are questioned. Already many terror plans have been busted and many U.S. and coalition forces saved.

How could Bush authorize it. If Kerry wants to speak of it he can.

Well in terms of interrogating terrorists, I don`t think Kerry could just go over there and do it unless Bush gave him a hand. But that`s what I meant, we can`t make life uncomfortable for these terrorists lest the liberals scream bloody murder, so I said since Kerry can`t stop talking about Vietnam and it tortures people and liberals love it, why doesn`t Bush help Kerry tell these terrorists about him being Vietnam? That way the terrorists will start talking in 2 minutes from the torture and liberals will love it.
