Calming their fears?? He LIED to the American people. They were RELIEVED when he PROMISED to keep the US OUT of the European War! Which is HOW he was able to be re-elected!! While out of the other side of his face, he was breaking US neutrality laws by giving aid to Britain and "his friend" good old Uncle Joe murderer-of-20-million-by-starvation-with-millions-more-yet-to-come-and-enemy-of-the-free-world-Stalin.
