Texas' Sessions (R)...Frost aide's metaphor 'despicable'

The videotaped beheading of American Nick Berg by Islamic militants in Iraq shocked almost anyone who watched it.

So when the campaign manager for Rep. Martin Frost, quoted in a Tuesday newspaper column, used a metaphor describing the decapitation of Rep. Pete Sessions with a guillotine, Mr. Sessions, R-Dallas, decried the comments as "personal, disgusting, despicable, hardball politics."

"My son can read that," said Mr. Sessions, who is battling Mr. Frost, D-Dallas, to represent Texas' 32nd Congressional District. "It's beyond what should be part of a campaign. It's hyper-negative."

Mr. Sessions suggested that Mr. Frost should consider firing the campaign manager, Jess Fassler.

"They should remove anyone who uses these kinds of inflammatory remarks," Mr. Sessions said.

In an interview with The Dallas Morning News, Mr. Fassler described how U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land, put Mr. Sessions' political career in peril by advocating a Texas redistricting map that opened Mr. Sessions up to competition.

"He put Mr. Sessions' head on the guillotine, and we're ready to pull the lever," Mr. Fassler said in Tuesday editions.

Mr. Fassler declined to be interviewed about his comments, instead e-mailing a statement.

"My words were poorly chosen. I wished I had used others," Mr. Fassler said. "The real issue is that voters in District 32 have a choice between an independent thinking, effective leader like Martin Frost and a partisan follower like Pete Sessions who simply does what Tom DeLay and others in Washington tell him to do."

Mr. Frost was unavailable for comment, Mr. Fassler said.

The Frost campaign, including Mr. Frost, should also issue an apology to the Sessions family and 32nd District residents, Mr. Sessions said.

Frost is a Democrat.
What do you expect?

He said nothing wrong and it was absurd for him to apologize.

The children! It’ll hurt the children! It was uber-hyper-crypto-mega-negative!

Toughen up, you whinger. You sound like a Democrat.

When a dog pees on a post, you electrify the post.

Watch out, Martin!

You two bozos are good examples of why this forum has been become a strain on one's desire to participate here. Nothing said from either of you would have been sufficient to make your points.
