I carry a firearm everywhere these days. School is out for the summer so I don't have to go to work. As a firearms instructor and shooting competitor, being always armed is as natural for me as breathing. But if I felt as you do, I think I deliberately wouldn't. I'd be afraid it'd make me trigger happy, too ready to shoot.
I am certain that at some point our malls will be targeted, possibly for an attack by Jihadists with AK's and grenades, rather than the suicide bomber. If that happens, especially in a state with Right To Carry (RTC) laws, there is a good chance some private citizen will be there to shut it down.
As Tom Clancy puts it: "If you pull the tiger's tail, have a plan for dealing with his teeth. In America, we grow very large tigers."
They should ask themselves "Do I feel lucky today??"

Hoping this is up to date. LINK
I wouldn't shoot anyone without good reason. But if given a good reason, then all bet's are off. BTW this map does show some very vulnerable areas.
