(There are two sides to every argument, but I'm too busy to listen to yours.)

I ask you to read through the posts... I have read the posts. I disagree with you.
In the western states, I know for sure the treaties were signed before the states existed. Requiring tribes to renegotiate their treaties because the invaders changed their political system is rediculous.
The answer might be for the states to relax their regulations on everyone, but it is not to impose more regulation on the tribes.
We have to learn to live with the unintended consequences of our actions.
Here in Kali, the tribes gave heavily (and illegally) to Bustamonte in the recall. Arnold won anyway.
I suspect the real answer to this is to force the tribes to make a decision. Are they citizens of the state where they live? If so, then they have to follow the rules for all of the other citizens. If not, then they don't have to, but they also can't vote at the state level and can't contribute to political campaigns in the state.

cigarette smuggling and its ties to terrorism.
Another byproduct of our homeland security act.
My last criticism of same was over the apprehension of some neighborhood drug dealing thugs who some folks around here equated to al quaida........

ALL OF WHICH ARE OFF THE TAX ROLLS! Guess who will be asked to make up the difference in lost taxes to support schools, government, programs, transportation etc?
Any entity that can gain exemption from paying taxes has my hat off to them! Your problem is with your government and your democraps, not the Indians.......

We have had a RAT governor for 40 years. Businesses are moving out or not coming in. We have only 4 insurance companies. The democrats have been in control almost forever and our state is dying.
Well now, you have just identified your problem and it ain't the Indians! Now do something about it!

Laws change all the time. Shucks, even the Constitution has changed until it's unrecognizable.

Wow! How helpful and insightful you are. How can I refute your superior intellect? Your rationale? You were on the debate team in college weren't you?

Actually, I hope American Indians do something with their newfound wealth, but the track record at Prior Lake, Minnesota, doesn't give me much encouragement. As we have observed at other Indian-owned interprizes, the Tribe is very selective about which members get the proceeds of about 1 million (state tax free)per Tribe member per year, meanwhile the lost souls who didn't make the "A" list wonder downtown Minneapolis and live off the soup kitchens or money from my tax receipts.
I don't go in casinos or bars, either, so I have no reason to be jealous. However, I understand my constitutional rights are suspended when I set foot on reservation property, so until this profoundly unfair doctine is corrected, why not do some good works for the many Indians who aren't on the gravy train and prove me wrong ?
To: CurlyDave
Your solution sounds reasonable.

"I think most people know that we're not terrorists." Quote from the Article:
... day that the government announced a crackdown on cigarette smuggling and its ties to terrorism.
"I think most people know that we're not terrorists. I think everybody knows that's a crock, that's just an excuse to get in the door," he said.
It's good to see statements in their context.
Of course no one sees "those people" as terrorists.
The article makes a good point. That any illegal smuggling operation could have connections that make it possible (maybe even mandatory) for some of the illegal proceeds to go to terrorists.

When I watched the Seinfeld show, I called it the "Kramer Show"
If he wasn't on it, I would have never tuned in.
Thanks for the Pic of the one that made Seinfeld "work"

It was a private, ummmm..."joke" (not exactly a joke, but something like that), not a serious commentary on the article.
