best news i heard all day!!! (just kidding)
Doh! Why didn't I think of this? Silly me, I gave my daughter some money to go to college.
There was an article a few years back in my hometown paper about how parents were doing this to their 15-16 year old girls. And in some cases the mothers were arranging it without the fathers' knowledge. Hope those girls sue their parents when they're old enough. The 18 year olds, on the other hand, are legally responsible, and won't have any recourse.
Of course it's freaky. It's also a trend out of someone's imagination.
"Since we know from your grades that you are dumber than a box of rocks, you'll have to make it on your looks, honey. Have some bigger boobs for graduation, m'kay?"
Yeah, real smart parents you got there, lass. We see why you need to make it on your looks. /rant off/
This could be an investment by the parents for their daughters college fund. Now they can get a job at the local strip bar and pay cash for their education instead of taking out student loans. Why graduate in debt. </sarcasm off>
Does she realize what she is giving up?
All breast surgery, including implants, can interfere with a womans ability to breast-feed a baby. Women with implants are less likely to be able to nurse than women who have not had breast surgery.
And we wonder why so many young people are confused with no real direction. These are the parents of today?
I'm glad I had the ones I had....all they gave me for graduation was a cedar chest (or hope chest as it was called) which I still have today after forty-eight years. Shucks, it's ONLY filled with mementos of bridal showers, wedding, baby items, parent memories and a whole host of other things. Not much for a graduation present is it? Wow, and to think I could have had breast implants instead.
How could my parents have been so selfish and old fashioned to have given me just a wooden chest that holds memories instead of a FAKE CHEST like these young women are getting. They are SOOO lucky.
What a nice present as they take their first steps into the real world. Hope these same parents don't complain about the real-world results...
As someone who grew up in the South and now lives in the bay area, this is not surprising to me, given the interaction between parents and children I've witnessed since I moved out here four years ago. The attitude people have in the bay area about their children is totally foreign to me. There seems to be an over riding desire to be friends with their children rather than responsible stewards and disciplinarians guiding these kids to responsible adulthood.
I can't really see where it should be anyone's concern.
Exactly who is this gift for?
"...Oh, when you said you wanted Hooters, I didn't think dinner..."
