A Queens judge under fire from city officials for helping a man wanted in a violent robbery elude a detective has been reassigned pending a possible investigation into the incident.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration has called for a probe.

Justice Laura Blackburne, who had been hearing drug cases in state Supreme Court, accepted reassignment Monday to civil cases pending the outcome of any "possible" investigation by the state Commission on Judicial Conduct, courts spokesman David Bookstaver said.

Can't seem to find the list of restricted news sites, so I'm excerpting to be safe. Heard this on the news today, and frankly, it's about time she was investigated, later in the article it lists some of the abuses she got away with, go figure she's a dim...Anyhow, it's nice to finally see some sense in the judicial system, albiet a little light. I even agree with what Bloomberg said.

This episode is bound to make it into either "Judging Amy" or "Law and Order" in some fashion before long. Nothing much out of the ordinary for NYC judges, btw, they are mostly pure, certifiable loons.

"...Bloomberg's administration has called for a probe."

See, judge? There are advantages to having your back to the wall.

Any judge who claims a cop must have an arrest warrant to make any arrest probably has brain damage. Here's a suspect who's just committed a violent felony and the cop is going to get a warrant before apprehending him? This lady is no all there.

Uh.....
Since the article doesn't tell us....
Can we assume this judge is a Democrat, and a double minority appointment?

Why does she still have a job?

I'll be surprised if she's removed from office for judicial misconduct.

Here's a good one to bookmark, and check occasionally for changes.

"Why does she still have a job?"

Why do you think she still has a job?

(Hint: Queens is in NYC)

This judge is incompetent. Now how do you suppose she got this position in the first place?

Her political connections go all the way back to Mayor Lindsay and her husband is a major player in New York democratic politics.

OK, so she got the position from political connections, not because she is qualified for the job.

I don't know how well she has been able to apply the law in the past. But it's clear to me that, of late, she's become increasingly irrational and high maintenance for the liberal establishment in that state. She's an embarassment. In the recent past, she's misappropriated public monies for her own enrichment, she's freed a cop shooter with only the flimsiest rationale and now she's become an accessory after the fact in the commission of a violent felony. She should not only be removed from the bench but from the practice of law as well. She's a menace. But the NY state bar is driven primarily by politics in cases like hers. So is the NY commission tasked with overseeing the judiciary.

Maybe she could get a job as a rest room attendant.

If she is a Justice of the New York Supreme Court, she was elected.
