Are you sure that isn't a picture of Tuh-Rey-Za without her wig?

I lived in Georgia part of the time Nunn was Senator. His conservatism is almost completely an illusion. He was conservative on defense and nothing else I know of.

I knew a guy who lived in Waycross and was discussing Nunn's next campaign and a possible presidential run. This guy said he knew Nunn's family and he was certain Nunn would not run.

I asked him why and he would not tell me although he did say he had some skeletons in his closet which were beginning to be known.

I was surprised when he didn't seek re-election, but remembered what the guy had told me.

This is just a ploy by the Kerry camp to make some people think they are seriously considering Nunn, in an attempt to bring in some southern/moderate voters who might remember this consideration come election day. A few more such names will pop up in the coming weeks of a similar nature, but none (as with Nunn) are really in the running for VP.

Agree. Nunn would be an asset without a doubt. He doesn't have the name recognition among younger voters, but he is strong on defense. I hope Kerry doesn't select him. I thought something was up a week or so ago when Nunn co-authored a piece in the opinion section of the Washington Post.

Nunn, a native of Georgia, serves on the boards of ChevronTexaco, Coca-Cola, Dell, GE, Internet Security Systems and Scientific-Atlanta, in addition to acting as co-chair and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative.

But is not for big business. For many leftists, Nunn would be the nail in the coffin. Nunn positively REEKS of corporate favortism over the concerns of the left.

If Nunn took it, then we could say
Sam Nunn actually was unlike Kerry before he was like him.

COuple of thoughts:

1) Nunn is a hawk which would tick of the far leftist doves...of course, where else are they going to go...

2) I don't think it brings Georgia into play as Bush has a huge lead and the state is very conservative.

3) Nunn might overshadow Kerry as he is far more competent and likable.

Nunn should be the Republicans' secret weapon. Everyone agreed Nunn was strong on defense. How often do you think he and Ketchup Boy voted the same way? Kerry will say he's strong on defense and then he'll have to explain why he voted the opposite of a Democrat defense icon.

Cheap attempt to make easy inroads in the south. The fact remains he would be running with a loser.

Agreed.

Suggested Campaign Slogan:

Kerry/Nunn - Leaves All Behind.

Sam Nunn will reveal his true character if he accepts Hanoi John Effing Kerry's bid to become VP!

We already know Kerry is a sleazball scumbag LIEberal. And the names being bandied around to run with him are likewise sleazeball scumbag LIEberals (Edwards, Gerblehardt, et al).

I hope Senator Nunn has the decency and good sense to flatly refuse to run with or support Hanoi John!

Same Nunn was reported to have been one of the congresscritters to receive an envelope from the Angel of Death (aka Charles Hayes) prior to the '94 election. He was one of an higher-than-usual number of public servants who decided they wanted to "spend more time with their family" that year. Also in that group was Patsy Schroeder who decided to retire at the height of her career (such as it was).

This info comes out of the Vince Foster / Systematics / PROMIS software / Stephens Brothers / BCCI / Octopus / Danny Casolaro ... story relayed by Dr. J. Orlin Grabbe.

The scenerio was that some good guys in the CIA had stumbled on financial records detailing massive payments made to US officials in exchange for cooperation concerning BCCI. These rogue elements in the CIA used this information to force their removal from public office. If you want to read more of this, do a google on some of the phrase mentioned above or go to Grabbe's website at orlingrabbe.com and look for the Vince Foster stuff. If this stuff is true, it'll curl your toes.

By the way, James Norman tried publishing much of the same independently obtained information while he was the editor of Forbes Magazine. This led to his resigning/firing and he published the info in (I think) Media Bypass Magazine. He used to hang out at FR. Not sure if he still does.

I don't normally admit this to anyone,
but Sam Nunn is a distant distant relative of mine.
I have only met him twice, but I have written him
more than a few scathing letters over the years.

I can't see him accepting. He is too serious for the kind of campaign Kerry is running, and too moderate as well. And he would never sell-out on his values so he'd prove to be a problem to them. Another trial balloon that will pop in a few days. Kerry wants to appear moderate...thus Nunn, McCain, Bayh. In the end it will probably be one of the few truly willing to make such a sacrifice (being Kerry's V.P.) and totally without national stature!

Personally, I'm more concerned with who will be the GOP VP nominee. It's a certainty that Cheney will not run for President in 2008, so it would seem imperative that Cheney be replaced on the 2004 GOP ticket, to give the GOP a slight edge in 2008.

My choice would be Rep. Tom Tancredo (CO). The problem with that, is that since Dubya has absolutely no respect for the Constitution, he wouldn't want someone on the ticket with him, with such a superb knowledge of and deep regard for our Constitution, as has Tancredo. Also, since a future President Tancredo would certainly make it a priority to repeal the large amount of unconstitutional provisions contained within Dubya's (ANTI)Patriot Act and such publicity would expose Dubya's total disregard for the Constitution and damage his legacy, Dubya would do everything possible to keep such a constitutionalist from ever gaining the bully pulpit of the Presidency. Actually, since I wouldn't want a Dubya hand-picked successor to have the edge in 2008, it's probably better that Cheney is the GOP's VP candidate in 2004, so we will have a better chance to nominate a real constitutionalist for President in 2008.

As for a Nunn VP nomination, I think it would certainly give Dubya something to worry about. In fact, if that Rat ticket were reversed, it would certainly spell doom for a Dubya reelection. As you say, unlike Kerry, Nunn is actually competent. Such a nomination would also put Nunn in a position to take the Rat presidential nomination in 2008.

I hope not. Nunn would be forced to do a Lieberman and contradict/renounce his long held positions to satisfy his master.

I lost a lot of respect for Lieberman because of this. Basically he sold his soul for power. I'll be disappointed if Nunn does the same.

Sam Nunn would be very, very bad for the GOP. Widely respected, low key and quite familiar with security issues, he'd hold his own and then some against Dick Cheney plus give Kerry help down south.
